Live Stream to Reception Venue

Katie, on October 10, 2019 at 9:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Needing some advice. We've pretty much decided that our hearts are set on a beach wedding. Not near the beach, on the beach.

We want the ceremony to remain somewhat small, as we have to pay $100 per 10 chairs, on top of the cost already at about 2k-3k just to have this ceremony. So here is my thought: We have a private stream to the reception venue and host the cocktail hour first prior to/during the ceremony. Venue is about 10 minutes from the beach, so having people get there, get seated, get a drink, and then watch the live feed from their tables and we'll come right there after seemed like a great idea! Especially considering we'd like to do a "first look" and get as many photos as we can earlier so we can go straight there. Thoughts? Is that tacky? I mean, I'm still paying for the party, it's just a matter of how many people we can have on the beach, in this zoned off little area that we'll have available to us. I mean little, like 25 feet by 25 feet.

Note: This is not a public feed, not a live facebook post, not streaming to anyone that wasn't invited, but only to those at the venue already, and a few family members and friends that cannot travel the distance.

I would skip the feed and just have your immediate family (parents, siblings, and grandparents) at the ceremony, then host the rest of your guests at the reception. I think it’s odd to say “you can’t can’t come to the ceremony, but you can watch it on TV.”

I don’t think you need to do the live stream. Just go ahead and do a small wedding with family then have a reception. My son did that and it all worked out great

I agree. Having a small family ceremony would reduce potential hurt feelings by those not able to actually attend
