Hello. My wedding is in a month and I am wondering which lipsticks you went with for your wedding.

I had a makeup trial and took engagement pics. The lip color I had on was custom made by my makeup artist but after taking so many pictures (including pictures of us kissing) my lipstick wore off.

I would love to hear suggestions of lipstick brands or even colors that was used in weddings that didn't transfer.

I'm Chinese and we have a tradition where every time someone taps on glass the couple has to kiss. Our group of friends are notorious for doing that at weddings so I want to prepare to make sure my lipstick won't fade too easily or transfer to my FH's lips Smiley laugh

Hi Allie! I remember you commented on my other post yesterday. Thanks for giving me advice again lol. I have tried this method of patting my lips with a paper towel and applying another coat. For some lipsticks it works and others not. But its definitely a routine I do when testing out lip products. I think I went from having only 3 lipsticks (before searching for wedding lipsticks) to having 10-15 ( most with the purpose to find the perfect wedding lipstick). Lets just say I'll be stocked for a while and have to start wearing them more haha

I’ve been wanting a YSL lippie forever! Good to know it has staying power, think I might get a pink one! Do you know if the lighter shades hold up as well as dark/bright shades?

I've had really good luck with LipSense. I used to sell it but wasn't very good at selling at all but I kept buying different colors when they came out and would wake up the next morning with it still on.

Ironically I didn't wear it for my wedding. When I had my makeup done the lady used a different brand that didn't stay on all day but I just brought it with me after buying a tube from her and brought a mirror and reapplied. I loved the color so much more than any I had brought with me as options to wear the day of.

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink. I’ll be using it for my wedding and have used it in the past. It stays on through eating, drinking, etc... and they have a ton of beautiful colors

Yes! My “every day” stains are the nude rose and medium nude. A tip though, give it maybe 5-10 minutes to really set before eating, drinking, or kissing. If you really get it wet it may transfer (I’m talking soaking rain, chugging drinks, or super sloppy make outs 😝). Otherwise I’ve worn them for 12-16 hours without reapplication.

Yeah that sounds like a recipe for disaster! I hate falling in love with the color and then the formula isn’t right. I use one of those dupe makeup sites sometimes, not even for a cheaper alternative but just a version that isn’t slippery or gummy! Watery is a no-go

I drive by SeneGence (headquarters) often because its on my way to our nearest plaza. I had no idea they also made lipstick. I actually considered applying there ( I have a chemistry degree) but I wasn't really sure what they made. I'll definitely look into it Smiley smile.

Awesome! You’re a life saver. I really like Rose Immerge, nice pastel pink but with some other brands they rub off the waterline far too easy.

Yeah I really liked the color. It was a perfect red without being bright and not leaning too brownish. The formula just didn't work for me. I've been debating if I want to return but I mean outside of my wedding it should be fine. If only there was a safe and effective way to thicken the formula and make it work. Kind of similar to like nail polish where if its too thick you can use nail thinner. But in this case it would be the opposite Smiley laugh

Haha yeah, I bought one yesterday! But it was a bit too watery for my liking and it transferred.

I'm hoping all the ones I bought won't go to waste since lip products also have a shelf life. I think the stick ones have a shelf life of about 2 years. Not sure about liquids. Hope you find the perfect one for your wedding Smiley smile

I've had luck with 2 brands.

    Nars - power matte

    Stila - stay all day

*nars has deeper and more variations of reds
*stila has avocado oil in it so it doesnt dry your lips out as much... and it TRULY lasts all day. (I opted for this one for the wedding).

Go to an ULTA near you. And try on a few, take your time and get the one that feels right

I love lipsense! It doesn't come off while eating, drinking, or wearing it all day at work. It looks just as good when I get home as it did when I first put it on.

I love my sephora liquid matte lipstick. I swear by it. I had problems finding a matte lipstick that sticked thru the day without it looking chapped and dry.
This one is the bomb.❤️ I eat, kiss my FH, eat a lil more and still stays intact.

I have it in red but it comes in a lot of different shades. Everyone I know who has one, only talks wonders of it.

    highly recommend

Hi Misty! I actually really love The NARS powermatte in American Woman. I purchased it yesterday but it was so watery and hard to work with. I tried to wait 15 minutes for it to dry down but it still transferred when I tried the kiss test on my hand. I even blotted it with a tissue and reapplied to see if it would work.

Its the perfect color for me but I couldn't figure how to get it to stay on me. Do you have any suggestions on application?

I haven't tried many lipsticks, but the NYX Lingerie line is pretty good as far as transfer goes.

    Yes maam.

Pro tip: apply concealer/ highlighter on lips and surrounding skin. Apply lip liner (color same as your skin tone) to the skin surrounding lips (border). That will give you more surface area.

I usually apply from corner of lower lip down along border (corner to corner) first, then fill in the lower lip. Press lips naturally. Then fill in border on top lip from corner to corner.

Reapply as needed to even any lighter areas. Then take qtip to perfect edges.

Let fully dry without pursing lips.

    Try that

Oh I never thought of using concealer on lips. I actually tend to use a qtip and water to get off any of my makeup that transferred to my lips after I apply my tinted moisturizer/foundation and setting powder. I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks!

Also, what concealer do you use for the lips? I know some can be drying as well.
