Limited Seating Ceremony, Thoughts?

jola.d.wedding, on January 17, 2012 at 10:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I am thinking of getting married at a golf course, the ceremony is on a terrace over looking the green, a lake, and lots of trees that will be in full fall foliage in October. The site only provides and seats up 30 seats and standing room for the rest for the ceremony. Other courses I looked at, also only had 30 seats. Is this normal? My FH is wary because he has only ever been to church weddings where they is ample seating. We only plan on having a 20 to 30 minute ceremony done by Brother in Law. Is this too long to ask for people to stand? Immediately after is cocktails while we get pictures and then reception is in a Tent also over looking the greens and fall foliage. Oh, we are inviting no more than a 100 people to the wedding. TIA.

I just went to my first out door wedding in July. and we stood for about 30mins. They had seating for their families and also the elderly. I think since your wedding is not too long that you will be fine with having people stand for a little while. Just makes sure they know that the seating is limited and the families get to sit first and if you choose the elderly gets dibs after your family members. And then if there are seats left the other guest may chose to sit down. That is what I would do. Good Luck with everything Smiley smile

Tricky! Since you don't really have a choice, I would reserve the 30 seats for the guests that may need them. (elderly, health problems, pregnant, etc.) Make sure that they are fully aware of their seat and mark them reserved. For the rest I suppose they would have to stand, but I would possibly look into making the ceremony shorter.

Just out of curiousity, what will make your ceremony 30 minutes long if it isn't in a religious type setting?

It isn't ideal, but it isn't the end of the world either. Are there any churches in the area that you could do ceremony & reception at 2 locations?

Is it that they only have space for 30 chairs, or only provide 30 chairs...?
