License renewal and wedding

Andrea, on June 30, 2020 at 1:54 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
This might be an odd question. My license is due for renewal in a few weeks, but I am getting married Aug 30 which means I will need a new license anyways cause I am changing my last name. Has anyone been in this situation before and were able to push out their renewal? I couldn't find anything online and I wasn't able to reach anyone on the phone to help me. Kinda wanna avoid the whole renewal process twice within 2 months if possible. Thanks!

I don't think there's any way around this unless you live in a county where your DMV is still shut down.

My state is extending renewals due to covid. Heck to see if your state is too. Other wise I think your only choices are to renew or chance driving on an expired license, although i could be wrong

Normally I don't think you could avoid it... but with the pandemic the gov't has allowed people to continue using expired ID "until further notice" in some areas. Check your area!

We were required to provide photo ID for our marriage license. But all the offices were really nice with asking questions. It doesn't hurt to ask

Like Cassidy said - it never hurts to check! I’d see if your state is extending renewals or not!

As others said, I think the only way this is possible is if your state is allowing extensions due to COVID.
