So as I have mentioned I am in a same sex relationship and obviously we are getting married. I just received a phone call from a photographer that I had been emailing and they told me “We don’t shoot same sex weddings. Marriage is for a man and a woman.” I am appalled and disgusted! I hung up on...
So as I have mentioned I am in a same sex relationship and obviously we are getting married. I just received a phone call from a photographer that I had been emailing and they told me “We don’t shoot same sex weddings. Marriage is for a man and a woman.” I am appalled and disgusted! I hung up on her. She told me at the beginning of the phone call she was calling because what she had to say she didn’t want to say in an email. My future wife says “yeah we will get a lot of that” like it’s no big deal, but I am not okay with it! Sorry for the rant I just needed some place to get it out.

Yes, absolutely. There's a link up at the top with this policy:

    "WeddingWire’s Nondiscrimination PolicyEST. AUGUST 2017

We take love seriously, that's why we added a comprehensive Nondiscrimination Policy to the books last year. Whether you're providing wedding services or saying "I do," we want everyone to know that 100% of our vendors and couples support inclusion.

WeddingWire prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital, family, pregnancy status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran or citizenship status. Our full Nondiscrimination Policy, which applies to our entire community of couples, guests, vendors and WeddingWire employees, can be found within our Terms of Use - number 4."

I am glad you are leaving reviews in the common review places. Normally I am not for leaving reviews of vendors one didn't use, but the reason you are not using them is vital information to anyone vendor shopping.

All of that said, your original post made me sad and angry. I am sorry this happened. I hope you can shake it off (after doing all the reviewing and reporting to WW), for your sake, and find a great new vendor!

Ouch. No need to post about your non-support of human rights here. Much better to just ignore and scroll on by.

I whole heartily agree with you. Let’s just hope she was having a bad day and you got the brunt of it.

I’m so sorry it happened, so unfair!

Definitely disregard them! I hope you left a review. It's a shame that this is still happening. It's hard sometimes but stay positive! Just know that there are vendors out there who are fully supportive. Some of them right off the bat mention lgbtq+ in their descriptions or event services. I know you'll find someone!

Ignore her ignorant self. People that judge others are sinners too. Love knows no gender or race. Forget her hateful self.

That’s terrible and you and your fiancé shouldn’t have to experience that. Hopefully you’ll be able to find another photographer soon.

Also I get where you’re coming from. I’m lgbt too and working with vendors is not the easiest thing. Just keep your chin up. It’ll all work out for the best

I completely agree this is awful, but unfortunately they have the right to refuse. It sucks that people can't be accepting.

You will find a better photographer. At least she didn't cut out on you at the last minute and you didn't spend your money on a person who can't see that Love is Love.

That’s disgusting and she didnt even have the nerve to say it in an email cause then youd have proof. As others have said, leave a bad review and let karma take care of it! So sorry you were treated that way

Businesses that serve the public must offer their services to all. If it's not illegal for them to discriminate against people in this way then it should be.

What a little coward that person is. You should report them to WW and look into the terms & conditions of the other sites hosting their info.
I've put a lot of effort into looking through portfolios of vendors. I wanna see same-sex worked by them weddings on display before I bother talking to them. We're spending too much of our gay af money to entertain hiring a bigot.

Refusing service to a same sex couple is no different from refusing service to a mixed race couple or a differently abled couple or a minority race couple. It's not a vendor's right to refuse service on the grounds of sexual orientation. A wedding is a wedding. It's the same type of service.
I am sorry you had to go through that, be sure to report her on Yelp and WW

She literally responded to you to be hurtful. Her only intent was to be spiteful and indignant. All she had to do was say they were booked, nothing more. Instead she shamed your couple for its very existence. I'm so sorry this has happened and I wish you better experiences during this happy time in your life.

...Correct me if I'm wrong, but in many states, if not ALL, this ... is illegal?

I mean, I smell a good old fashioned media shaming and lawsuit threat, but I'm ... known to be rather confrontational.

I'm sorry this happened. If this is a vendor listed on most major wedding websites, please report them, as all of the major websites are LGBTQ+ friendly, and do not condone this (illegal) behavior.

We are in Florida as well just from a small very conservative town, so I was expecting to be turned down. It was the rest of the conversation that just made me mad.

I left a review in all of the places that I could! I am hoping I can find more vendor options! I think I am going to have to up our budget and have vendors travel. We are in a small conservative town so finding vendors local has been a struggle.

It is so much harder than I thought it would be! I definitely thought that the wedding world would be a little farther along with acceptance and inclusion that it is.
