Let’s talk wedding cakes

Alexandra, on November 15, 2021 at 8:30 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8
Hello lovely ladies and gents

I have a dilemma. Our wedding colors are Navy Blue, Gold with Greenery.
I have been looking at 2 tiers wedding cakes in navy blue and I don’t like any I have seen, I am more attracted to white, gold with greenery on them 🤦🏼‍♀️ Would that look good with the table clothes being blue ? I feel I have to add blue to everything but I really don’t like it 😩
Please help

You don’t have to add blue to it …. Maybe the inside can be blue … that’s would be a cool touch.

I would actually avoid having a navy blue cake. Many times the amount of food dye needed to achieve that dark of a color can alter the flavor of the icing. I’d also be concerned about it leaving your teeth and mouth blue!

You don’t have to match the cake to the linens and it’s something only you will notice.

To get dark colors, many bakers add color to chocolate icing. I would not worry staining teeth, etc.

I agree with everyone else. Everything doesn’t have to be exactly navy and gold. A white and gold cake can fit into any color scheme. Plus the navy will still be there with the linens so the colors are still tied in.

Definitely don't have blue frosting lol unless you want blue lips in half your pics! You could always put a few blue artificial flowers on the cake.

You can definitely do a white and gold cake! Our colors are navy and burnt orange and we're having a semi naked cake with white buttercream and white flowers to match our other florals. Our linens are also navy, and I think it'll look great and stand out against them, which is exactly what yours would do!
