Let's Talk Themes

Hi all! I'm interested in your wedding theme, if you have one. When I first started planning, I didn't know what, if any, theme I wanted for my wedding. Then I thought, "I don't need a theme...." and kept going along as I was. Then the other day it hit me: I have a theme, I just didn't know it!! I guess you could call my theme "fairy tale." Not like in Disney, or some cartoon princess theme. Not really that specific. Just fairy tale. As in, this whole experience from reconnecting with my FH after many years of not seeing each other; the fact that he was my first love back in high school, and now we're finally getting married; the things I've been gravitating towards for my wedding decor, invitations, attire, etc., all seems to be centering around the idea of a fairy tale.

I don't have any pictures yet, as I'm still 9 months out. All the pictures are in my head. But I want to see what you all are doing for "theme." Send me your pics, whether you have a concrete theme, or just a vibe you are going with.

I don't really have pictures yet, but I do feel like having a "theme" has actually been really helpful! I am the kind of person who has a hard time making decisions (because I like so many things), so by trying to stick to our classy (not gaudy) art deco theme/speakeasy vibe, I've been able to eliminate a lot of things and narrow down my options!

My theme was so hard to nail down. I feel like each of these posts I come up with a new description of it. Think antiques with old books, whimsy, and some hipster touches.

Our theme is a Disney Christmas theme. Here are some of the things I am doing for it. The first picture will go on our aisle runner. The second is our escort cards. The third is my shoes. The fourth is our welcome sign. Then the centerpieces and my bouquet.

I don't have any pictures, but we're doing a harry potter/great Hall inspiration for our wedding. 4 sets of long tables, our invitations and STD had a harry Potter feel. For our cards we're using a bird (owl) cage. Our favors will be chocolate frogs.

We are getting married in October and we have a harvest fall in love theme. The colors are havest-y, we have some gourds mixed into the decor, and other fall elements, like colored leaves lining the aisle

I’m getting married New Years Eve so I wanted a Winter Wonderland theme. And then the wedding took on a mind of its own that I call a “Winter Bling theme”

This sounds similar to mine. I wanted a winter wonderland with a lot of sparkle! I stuck to shades of blue with rhinestones and silver

I'm going with a fairytale enchanted forest vibe. I have inspiration pics, but they're all pinterest. Well except for the 3rd one which is the venue. And the last two which is me in my dress and the stds I just sent out.

I didn't go in with a theme, but after awhile I realised that all the ideas and things I was drawn to are what is called "industrial vintage". A lot of romantic pastels and dark metal and rust mixed in. It just works. 😁

My FH and I are thinking we will have a "fall vintage theme" with sunflowers being our main flower. There will be lace tablecloths and old books and mason jar centerpieces. We will also have orange and burgandy as colors. We have a year to plan so we haven't figured everything out yet.

We're getting married in an aircraft hangar at a museum, where most of the airplanes are from WW2, sooo we are doing a vintage travel/aviation theme. We aren't doing too many decorations, since there's over 50 airplanes on display and are really beautiful. Instead of an arch, we will have two airplanes pointing towards the crowd at an angle so the nose tips are pointing towards us. We will have a globe for our guests to sign as our guestbook, have vintage suitcases as decor (1 will be for guests to put any cards in, and 1 will be "baggage claim" for their favors). Our colors are burgundy, gold, and rose gold/copper.

I have a bunch of ideas for the centerpieces, but haven't decided on exactly what I want. I want to incorporate antique brass vases, but that's as far as I've gotten with that lol

Our invitations are "boarding passes". I designed them all myself. Here's what they look like:

I don't have any pictures just yet of everything.
