Let's Talk Rings...

Stephanie, on February 14, 2020 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15

Hey Ladies, I have a couple questions about our engagement/wedding rings...

1. On our wedding day, are we supposed to wear our engagement ring down the isle?

I have been to some wedding where the whole set was given to her at the altar and I have seen it where the bride wears her ring and the band is then given at the altar by the groom.

2. One we are married, does the wedding band go in front of the engagement ring or behind? I have seen it worn both ways as well. Are there any significant meanings to wearing it a certain way?

    1. Depends on the bride. Some keep the ER on and have the band placed on. Some take it off. Some wear it on the right hand then switch it after the ceremony. It’s preference.

    2. Traditionally the band is placed first then the ER because the band is supposed to be closest to the heart. But I’ve seen people wear their ER first.

1.) I’ve almost always seen the bride wear the engagement ring down the aisle. Rarely do I see the bride not wear her e-ring at all or wear it on her right hand. I’ve never seen the engagement ring placed on her finger during the ceremony.
2.) Typically the rings are stacked with the wedding band first, but you can wear them however you want.

The weddings I have been to, the E-Ring has been on the brides right hand and then after the ceremony she puts in on her left on top of the wedding band.

I am soldering mine together before the wedding my groom will put them on my left hand together. I know this is not how most do it but because of the way my band fits with my e-ring, I don’t want to have to worry and stress about them shifting the whole night and during pictures. When it is put on my finger they will be placed with the band going on first and closest to my heart as tradition states.

I'm wearing mine on my right hand down the aisle and then after we say I do I'll move it over. The wedding band traditionally is close to your heart because it's a circle and love has no end like the ring

I’m actually already married (we eloped and are now planning our “big wedding”) so i feel like i can answer this!

    1. I switched my engagement ring to my right hand for the ceremony. I actually didn’t think to tell my husband, and he got super confused when it came time to put the wedding bands on (it was cute tho) so maybe give your FH a heads up if you decide to do this2. I’ve always heard the wedding band should go on your finger first, to keep it “closer to your heart,” and then your engagement ring. This is how I wear mine and it looks great for me. Try it out ahead of time and see what you like!

I think it’s a personal preference on which side of your e-ring you wear your wedding ring.
    I’ve heard...
you wear it first so it’s closer to your heart AndYou wear it last because the wedding seals the engagement
I’m going to wear my e-ring down the isle, I personally think I like the way it looks with my wedding ring 1st. So I’ll switch them after
