Let's hear those vows, pledges, and promises ladies!!

Olivia, on August 1, 2012 at 3:29 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15

What did you write for your vows? Were they traditional? Funny? Tear-jerkering? Did you rap them or perhaps act them out?

Whatever you did, I wanna know! Cuz honestly I could use a lil inspiration ;P

Here is mine...Still working on it but is almost there

_____, I love you. Long ago you were just a dream and a prayer. God made my dream come true, bringing you to my life. You have been my rock and my shoulder. You have put a permanent smile on me and showed me that love has no boundaries. You have made me grown into a better person.

Today I promise to love you day after day. To support you in times of joy and sorrow. To always listen and understand. I promise to record my crazy ladies shows, so you don’t have to watch them with me. And to watch all the Harry Potter movies. I promise to devote myself to be the best wife and the best mother.

From this day forward, I promise to love you eternally and never leave your side.

    Here is mine:

Michael from the moment that we meet as children to this moment, looking into your eyes and seeing you now, I couldn’t be more pleased that I have such a perfect man to be my husband.

You are my high school sweet heart, the love of my life, my best friend, and the man of my dreams.

Thank you for loving me for 9 years and my son as he is your own.

As I watched my family become our family, I saw a man raising my children wholeheartedly that I could trust deeply.

Our love is everlasting. You make me smile when I’m sad. You make me laugh when I’m in trouble.

And as I stand before you today I cannot believe how truly lucky I am to have a man that accepts and love me more than I ever believed I deserve.

As your wife, I vow to be loyal, loving, honest, kind, patient, and forgiving. I promise to stand by your side through the laughter and tears, cherish you and to always hold you in the highest regard. No words can express how much I love you, not only because you are the love of my life but my hero too. These things I give to you today and all the days of our lives.

    Danny,

You know that I love you. But, you’re a royal pain in my butt. You drive me nuts with your video games and yelling at the TV. But at the end of the day, when you’re giving me a foot massage and playing with our beautiful son, I remember why I fell in love with you to begin with. You’re caring, loving, and make me happier than I have ever been in my entire life. I promise that someday, not anytime soon, that I will play Call of duty with you and yell at the TV also. I promise that I will love you even when you make me mad. I promise that I will always be faithful and that you will always have my heart. Today is the start to the rest of our lives and I couldn’t be more pleased that I have such a perfect man to be my husband and the father of my child.

We are doing two sets of vows. First, kind of in the middle of the ceremony, we'll trade "vows" that we wrote for each other. i.e. I'll have written for him to vow to always squish all the bugs bigger than a grain of rice, and to always take out the smelly trash bags, and he will write things for me like, I vow to wash the dishes when you cook, I vow to let you play unlimited video games one day a week, etc. We haven't written those yet and what I write and what he writes will be surprises to each other at the ceremony! I hope it gets some laughs.

Then at the end we are doing traditional vows, because I like their simplicity and the idea of saying something brides and grooms have said to each other through time: (cont.)

    I am using this

On this day I commit my life

    To our partnership in marriage.

I promise to express my thoughts and emotions to you,

    And to listen to you

In times of joy and in times of sorrow.

I will love you faithfully through the best and the worst,

Through the difficult and the easy,

Through the pain and the joy that is life.

I will trust you with my dreams

And support you in fulfilling yours.

    I believe in you,

The person you will grow to be,

And the couple we will be together.

    With my whole heart,

I take you as my wife,

Acknowledging and accepting your faults and strengths,

    As you do mine.

I promise to be faithful and supportive,

And to always make our family’s love and happiness

    My priority.

I will be yours in plenty and in want,

    In sickness and in health,

    In failure and in triumph.

    I will dream with you,

    Celebrate with you,

    And walk beside you

Through whatever our lives may bring.

    Whatever challenges lie ahead,

I know that we will face

    Dear Matt

Though life may not always be as perfect as it is in this moment I vow to never love you less than I do now. I promise to support & nurture your dreams because as of today they are ours together. I promise to be strong in our challenges and have confidence in us. I promise to be your partner in all things, to put you above all others and love you for who you are and who you will become. I vow to work towards understanding you and helping you understand me. With this ring, I promise to love without doubt and trust without boundaries. For all of eternity you will hold my heart in your hands because one lifetime with you could never be enough. Love Always Your Boobaloo

We were given different options of vows to choose from, we choose:

From this day forward I promise you these things.

I will laugh with you in times of joy and comfort you in times of sorrow.

I will share in your dreams, and support you as you strive to achieve your goals.

I will listen to you with compassion and understanding, and speak to you with encouragement.

I will help you when you need it, and step aside when you don't.

I will remain faithful to you for better or worse, in times of sickness and health.

You are my best friend and I will love and respect you always.

Ours were traditional. We both got a little choked up saying them.

I, ______ take thee, ______, to be my wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish 'til death do us part, and thereto I pledge you my trust.
