Left my e-ring at nail salon

Michelle628 is now a Mrs!, on July 9, 2010 at 9:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

So I went to get my nails done last night and took my ring off so it didn't get dirty. It wasn't til I got home last night that I forgot to put my ring back on. I called the owner since I was the last client and she said that she is the first one in today so she will put the ring in the safe. They don't open until lunchtime so you know I will be heading to the nail salon at lunch. I am panicking. I am sure the ring is there but I won't feel better til it is back on my finger!

Find a "Safe" place to keep it when you have it off. I always put mine on a carabiner on my keyring, so I have it nearby. When I go to the gym - I get the crush pains from the dumbbells/barbells, sailing - I know two people who lost fingers due to wearing rings, at home when I'm working on things - I have cats which just LOVE to knock little things around.

I know the sense of panic feeling. I started the carabiner thing after the cat knocked it off of my dresser one day and I had a hard time finding it!

The salon opens at 12:30 and you know I will be there at 12:30 getting my ring. You had to see me last night hiding my hands so my FS wouldn't see that it was missing. 2 1/2 hours left until the salon opens! The owner is very good friends with my friend so I trust that it is still there.

I only take mine off to shower because they are fixing our drain cover and its "exposed". All i need is for it to slid off my hand while shampooing my hair and slip down the drain. I always feel so naked without mine.

I take mine off at the nail salon too, because I feel like all that powder and dust and stuff will get all in it. I understand that panicky feeling.. One time I was at HOME and realized that my ring was on my finger and didn't remember taking it off. I searched the whole house up and down and I was really getting freaked out until I happened to look in my bed. It was all wrapped up in my sheets. I don't know how I missed it when I was making my bed! Apparently I took it off in my sleep (because it definitely can't fall off)

That should've been a sign not to sleep in it, but I still do. But yeah, that's freaky. Make sure you let us know when you get it!

Yikes, how scary!! I got mine done last week, and they put it on a little ring holder, right in front of me so I wouldn't forget.

@Kristen...I put it on the ring holder but totally forgot to take it off the ring holder. Thank god I was the last client though or else I would be even more upset.

Aaaghh. I have a presciption bottle in my kitchen for when I take mine off (Child proof lid is a MUST here) but I also have one of those hook thingies on my keys (Brian actually knows what they are called Smiley smile that I have used for different rings before. Good Luck. let us know when you get it!

I don't go to the nail salon (it's an expense we can't have right now) but if I'm out somewhere I take it off and put it on a d-ring that I have on my keychain. When I'm at the pool and putting on sunscreen and tanning oils and whatnot, I take it off and put it on there until I'm done. I don't want all that yucky stuff in/on my ring. I also take it off when I'm showering and using lotion and when I sleep. When I shower or sleep I put it in the ring box because we have cats and I'm afraid of putting it anywhere and then knocking it around.

I'd be freaking out as well!!

OMG, I thought you were gonna say you couldnt find it when you went back, but this great news atleast it is not picked up by someone else!

Question: I always thought diamonds weather anything so I never took it off...do everything with it on...Why do you ladies take it off? maybe I should too?...

@Awet...I take it off to sleep and at the nail salon. They put an exfoliating scrub on my hands during the manicure that would get the ring all dirty so I take it off for that. Next time it will be going in my purse....not on the ring holder.

Well, I'm not necessarily worried about the diamonds. But the chemicals can mess up the metal of the band and all the lotions and stuff that you use get all up in the ring and under the diamonds and whatnot. I've read some horror stories from jewelers where they are cleaning rings and CLUMPS of stuff are lodged around and under the diamonds. And because I have a cathedral setting, I have open spaces that all the lotions and stuff would get under and get lodged in.

The longer I have my ring, the less "weird" I'm getting about it, but I used to be really weird about it. I take it off to do anything that is going to get anything on my hands like washing dishes, washing my face, putting on lotion, etc etc. I used to take it off in the shower, and I still do sometimes, but lately I've been wearing it in the shower and it actually looks cleaner. But I make sure to really rinse it off before I get out so that there isn't any build-up on it. It sparkles more now than I wear it in the shower than it ever has!

I either put mine in my pocket when I dont have my purse, and I carry my ring box in my purse, this one isn't even the real one yet and I freak out when I can't find it, lol. but I plan on putting it in the fire safe when I get a new one because it's the one he proposed with and I want to keep it forever.

OMG, I would be so upset. I take mine off to when I get my nails done and always afraid that would happen to me and it would be gone forever. I have a sick feeling for you. So, glad that you're getting it back. Extra tip for that girl next time.

I lost mine for about 60 sec one day at work, I took it off to put lotion on and it got lost under some papers on my desk. I had everyone looking for it and raced to the bathroom to check the counter but I don't take it off to wash my hands. It's better to get a little lotion on it and keep it on, rather than take it off and risk losing it. You can always get it cleaned at the jewelers.
