Left at the altar

Okay. Watching TLC and this show is on about brides or grooms being left at the altar.... I just realized my biggest fear ever. I'm sitting here watching this show with tears in my eyes. Could you even imagine? I think I'd seriously just curl up in a ball and die.

In Florida, the B&G sign at the courthouse when they get the marriage license. After the ceremony, only the officiant needs to sign it (witnesses are optional).

I can actually understand how this happens. I don't think people wait around until the day and then think it's a good idea to call it off. I think in many cases the party not showing up on the wedding day has his/her doubts but pushes them aside because he/she does love the other person and truly wants to make it work but then realizes on the wedding day when it's finally official that it's really really happening. I also think a lot of couples haven't yet learned how to argue and it gets pretty stressfulI as it gets closer to the wedding what with all the planning and small arguements turn into big ones and couples get prideful and aren't able to resolve their issues so they instead see it as a sign to opt out of the wedding. I dunno..but eventhough there's not chance in heck that I'll be leaving my FS at the altar..in a sick and twisted way..I do get it. Smiley smile

I think I'd go to court over it if I got stood up at the altar. It was a binding promise. A contract. That's what that proposal was. So for all the money that I put into this wedding, I'd be suing to get back. I wouldn't ask for more than I put into it, but I'd definitely be asking for that all back. (Well, what was spent on the wedding and anything that was put into a home that we were going to share. I'm not greedy. I don't want your shyt, but I'm getting ALL of mine back!

    Shannon-- you're so right.

Mrs. Turner2B-- It's actually called Left At The Altar.

I talked to FH about this last night and I told him that if he ever left me at the altar I'd find him and he'd regret the day he met me. Hahaa. He said "Isn't Friday Brideday on TLC? Nothing like the fear of getting left at the altar to make every woman excited about her wedding..." Touche, my love. Touche.

LOL..I told DS before our wedding that if he left me at the altar that I'd hunt him down and kill him and they'd rule it justifiable because you just don't f--k around with a bride on her wedding day (I was kidding of course and he knew that). He said "back at ya". Although he hated every minute of our wedding day because he hates being center of attention, having pics taken of him, dancing and he was uncomfortable in the suit, he did it for me because he knew it was important to me. I'm not joking that he hated every minute either lol..he told me so, but said that because it made me happy, it was worth the discomfort.

Sounds fake to me. How exactly do they plan this show? They just "happen" to have a film crew handy when someone gets left at the altar. It sounds like typical "reality" TV to me. If that happened to me I wouldn't even allow them to air it. How humiliating!
