Leaving for honeymoon after wedding?

Chanelle , on March 30, 2017 at 12:58 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 48

So my fh says that once we have our reception we just up and leave to go to our honeymoon. I've only been to weddings where the bride and groom party and dance till 12-1 AM, then leave the next day. So what is supposed to happen? You just leave the reception and leave everyone behind to clean up your wedding??? That seems strange but I don't know??

We are having a send off brunch! They will watch us leave in the car. We will go on a cruise the day after the brunch but it takes 8 hours to get there. We have wedding planners and it's basically my moms wedding so she will take care of the mess and hold the gifts till we get back. My brother did a send off like that and it worked fine! We are getting married Saturday and leaving Monday. We have things to do including taking FH daughter to her moms. Plus I don't want to get on a 14 hour flight hungover. Lol!

I'm not sure what is supposed to happen; however, my wedding (as of now) starts at 5pm and we plan to end around 10/10:30pm. We will stay in a hotel that night and then leave for our cruise the next day.

Edit: We dont plan to just up and leave the wedding. The wedding will end and we will still hang around. Thank our guests and then leave with the vendors.

We are leaving 3 days after the wedding. We have family still in town the next day then want a free day to recoup.

We are leaving the next day in the early afternoon. Wedding on a Sunday leaving Monday. We didn't want to rush to get to the airport and we wanted to eat brunch the next day as well with guests still in town

Our honeymoon is a European cruise almost 2 weeks after the wedding. It works out for us bc we'll both have family in town and it gives us a moment to breath.

But I've wondered... I've seen the videos and movies with a little sparkler send off, the couple gets in the car and everyone waves their good byes and good luck. And I've wondered the same thing, who cleans up? I'm in Michigan and have never been to a wedding like that. Maybe they're more common in other areas of the country?

To pull this off, you would have to have people already hired to cleanup, take your gifts safely home n return items as needed.

We delayed our honeymoon over a month after the wedding. We're going on a cruise and being an "airline brat" I've seen some horrible things happen flights delayed etc and can't get the honeymooners on their cruise until their 1st port of call. Alway travel at least 2 days before your cruise unless your in the same state of course.

If you are flying out you can always sleep on the plane. Enjoy every second of your day/night. Plus if you can't afford to hire someone to clean up (your caterers usually do it. It's included, but double check) assign it to one of your BM. The last thing you need to worry about is cleaning up. Remember this is your day. Just relax and enjoy it.

We had a Friday wedding and left for our HM on the following Monday. It was really nice to not have to rush. We brought everything home Saturday morning, cleaned up, did laundry and packed.

Kate - do not assign cleanup to your friends and family. Hire someone. They are there to have fun, not to work.

We got married on a Saturday night and had a brunch for oot guests the next day. Then we left for our honeymoon on Tuesday. I highly recommend having that buffer day to run errands and chill out, etc.

We aren't doing our honeymoon until the end of June because it worked out better for us then. We did the sparkler send off. Our venue just needed us to have our gifts and cards out that night so my brother and one of my friends put them all in their cars. We came back to the venue he next day and they had put all of our stuff in a room packed up ready to take. It was part of the package.

We are getting married on a Friday and leaving for our honeymoon that Tuesday. I didn't want to worry about laundry, packing and making sure I had everything right before I walk down the aisle. I'm so happy we're waiting a couple days! But you can do whatever you whatever works for you guys!
