Last name to use on wedding invitation?

Amber, on April 18, 2017 at 1:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

We are both divorced and I kept my last name from my previous marriage (only because we had kids together and I didn't want to go and change everything).

What last name should I used on the wedding invitations? My maiden name or my legal name? Can we go without using them or is that too casual? I still have my exes last name on everything because legally it is my last name too and I wasn't sure if that would be weird to put it on the invites or if it would be weird to use my maiden name..

I've seen formal invitation with just the first names on them.

There is a way around including yours if you're putting your parents' names on there, ie something like

Mr & Mrs Smith request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter

    Firstname Middlename

    to

    First Middle Lastname

I would just use your first name and middle name. I still have my x husbands last name, that's what we were going to do.

I only used first names and was wondering if the recipients would say "who?" haha! Use what you're comfortable with. That's my opinion, but I'm casual about these things.

I just used our first names on the outside for address labels. I used Samantha Leigh (first and middle) and Matthew David Reynolds (full name) on the inside of the actual invitation

My friend's daughter announced the wedding on the invitations. Saved the issue of last names.

"[Daughter] is pleased to announce the marriage of her mother [you] to [fiancé]

Please join them in celebration... Yada Yada Yada blah blah blah"
