Lantern Centerpieces - Post your photos!

Kd, on June 26, 2015 at 2:23 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 27

I don't think I want to do flowers at my venue - but I love the lantern look! I'm going to let my guests take them home (so I may use flameless candles to avoid mess - or is that tacky)? Please post your photos if you've used them, or your inspiration photos! Anyone get a good deal on them somewhere? Thanks, gals!

    Gorgeous! My inspiration is a large white one with a detailed silver top (I will update with a photo later). I'm going to use this larger lantern for guests to place their greeting cards in as they enter the venue. I'm having a small wedding, so probably will only need about 8 of them for centerpieces. I don't know of any Hobby Lobbys in my area Smiley sad Is that like a Michael's?

    We aren't having lantern centerpieces but we have a couple in our home décor. We got them from HomeSense. They have great stuff and are well priced Smiley smile

    I'm considering lanterns, too. I'm a ways away but I've had my eye on these:

    I'm doing something very similar to VM, I'm also using fake candles, not tacky at all! They make super nice ones now with real wax and can hardly tell the difference.

    Here were our centerpieces. We had borrowed the lanterns from some friends who used them in their wedding. Our wedding was in November so we used tiny pumpkins and gourds to add to the centerpieces.

    Check with your venue about candles- our venue wouldn't let us have open flames so we had to use fake candles

    I wish I had an actual photo to post, but not yet. Inspiration: fall and natural elements. We got the lanterns from ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10156109/) and they're going to have pillar candles inside them, and they will also be stuffed with acorns up to an inch or two at the candles' base. Then I got these grapevine wreathes to encircle the lanterns' base. Our table numbers are rustic wood blocks with the numbers painted on them. So not a lot of color, but our table runners/table cloth combo will be a lot of color.

    Don't have a completed pic yet either, but I'm doing gold lanterns with blush and ivory roses and fairy lights inside. The lanterns are pretty basic (will have glass panels on sides - taken out for painting), since the flowers will hopefully be the stars of the piece!

    This is our inspiration pic, sort of. Will probably put more flowers and fall leaves. IKEA and hobby lobby are both good places for lanterns. We are fortunate to have several "For Sale" facebook groups where we live and scored 10 lanterns for $20 that a lady was getting rid of after her wedding. So if you have that option in your area, I would say check it out.

    I love lanterns too! We have flower centerpieces but we are lining our aisle with lanterns. The ones that we bought can only be used with flameless candles, so depending on what you find that may determine what you end up using.

    Love all of them! I ended up choosing flowers because they double as ceremony decor.

    @rosie- I really want to see a completed picture! The flowers inside will be fake I'm assuming? I have lanterns just like yours but they are just a smaller size it looks like.

    I have 5 of these. I need to find a few more yet. The candles inside came with them and when you burn them the top gets hot! Fairy lights sounds like a great idea!

    @lola- your tables are amazing!!

    I have a whole Pinterest board of Lantern ideas, but these are my 2 favorite. We are thinking of getting a hodgepodge of different lanterns from thrift stores, yard sales, etc and mix them up.
