No we have had a really rough year and had to dip into our savings and emergency savings so we have just been budgeting and working extremely hard to pay for the wedding but now whatever money was left will have to go to bills and i feel its too late to postpone since everything is almost paid off...the stress is real rightnow

FH owns a marketing company, and lost his only client in December. It sucks. I totally feel for you.

Take a little time to be there for each other before making any decisions/changes.

That sucks, I am sorry! I was worried about that happening to me for months before the wedding. It ended up happening about three months after. Did they give you severance? Take a day to go through the emotions and then get yourself set up with unemployment and start pounding the pavement to find something new. Are there any staffing agencies that could help you? I was able to do some temp work while I was looking. Pay is not great usually but it was more than unemployment for me. Plus with some temp jobs there is the possibility to get hired on permanently.

Sorry I didn't read close enough that your FH was the one laid off. What does he do? Is he skilled in anything (construction, mechanic) that he could pick up some odd jobs to help?

Sorry. We were in the same boat, FH got laid off in November and we started to panick. He literally just went back to work today. Luckily we had a good amount saved. I picked a second job part time, and FH did side jobs here and there. Maybe you guys can do the same. Cut back any unnecessary expenses, budget very wisely and work as hard as you both can.

Same thing happened to my FH right before the holidays. He found another job within a month, but not paying nearly as much as he was getting before. He just wanted to have something so he could pay his rent. Now he's looking for something that pays better. At first I thought we were going to have to have a quick wedding so we could move in together (religious reasons) and we pool our resources, but thank goodness he found something. It's a scary feeling. Praying things will work out for you guys.

My FH got laid off this past Friday. I know the feeling. We still have 9 months until our wedding but definitely stressing it. Not many jobs here in our neck of the woods in Ga.

I am so sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened to me and my DH. Four months before our wedding he was laid off. He wasn't offered a job until a month AFTER our wedding. We were fortunate enough to get a severence package. Here is some advice that might help you based on what we went through.

    1. Do not ever take each other for granted. This will be a very hard time not only on your finances but also on your relationship.

    2. There may be days where he doesn't do anything. I was in the mindset that if I was at work then the house should always be clean because he was home all day. After coming home and finding that the dishes weren't done or anything I would lose it. He was depressed and spent hours looking online for jobs and fixing his resume. After I cut him some slack he seemed to want to help out around the house more.

    3. As for wedding stuff relook at your spending/budget. Do you really need those personalized napkins, bridal party robes, and $200 heels you'll only wear once? Get rid of the unnecessary. Pay off your vendors asap.

    4. You can always put the wedding on hold and try and work with your vendors as well.

    5. If you can afford it start couples counseling. It will really help!

    6. If your FH is prone to depression make sure he is mentally, emotionally, and physically taken care of. My husband was very down on himself because he thought it was his fault and he was not good enough for potential employers. He became frustrated and lethargic. Get him out of the house as much as possible. Go for walks or work outs anything to be outside. Build him up mentally and emotionally.

I feel you ... FH's entire company shut down last week with just one weeks notice. We have a little over 3 months.

Just take a deep breath, make a plan , and don't make any decisions until you have to. Also talk to your vendors about it if you need to. I spoke with our caterer and she gave me multiple options to cut costs that we wouldn't have to implement until 10 days before.

We've been very lucky that he was already set up with an interview this week thru some professional connections. I hope things work out for you .

YES!!! Everything @katie said. He should look into remote data entry jobs too. May not pay as much and might be only part time but that can probably supplement another part time job.
