Ladies with gauged ears???

Jessica, on December 28, 2011 at 11:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

So even though I spent a week at her house last year, I didnt realize my SIL has gauged ears. I just so happen to ask her about wearing earrings for the wedding and she just replied well, I have gauged ears.

So how does this effect your ability to wear earrings or does it? She stated that for her wedding 2 years ago she wore diamond plugs to make her holes smaller. To me this sounds very painful!

I really liked the idea of my girls NOT wearing a necklace but instead drop-down earrings and some sort of bracelet.

Depending on how large the holes are depends on what type of jewelry she'd be able to wear. But as she mentioned she'd probably only be able to wear plugs if her holes are huge. Google "gauged ears" and take a look. Maybe she can just wear plug earrings and a bracelet? Good luck! Smiley smile

I have my ears gauged to a 0 which is pretty big. Depending on what hers are changes what she can wear for earrings. They do make gauges that will look a little bit more like real earrings. It's most likely that she wouldn't be able to wear drop down earrings without them look off or falling out unless she barely has them gauged at all. What I am doing for our wedding is wearing pearl earrings that has rhinestones around the pearl. They are regular earrings but because the front is a little bigger and I'm wearing the big earring backs (the kind that have that clear plastic around the edge) they stay in fine and look just like anyone elses ears. Really, it all depends on how gauged her ears are.

My MOH has a size 0 ear and she got a pair that looked like this for my wedding. It didnt bother me, because all my girls wore their own jewelry except for the bracelet I got for each of them

I have gauged ears...well in the process of gauging them and I found these REALLY pretty dangle natural swirls that are white. you could let her wear her diamond plugs for you and see how they look. It just depends on how big the gauge is. I'm in a toss between these three, and they're not too overly fancy so I can wear them on a normal basis after the wedding as well.

If you would rather her not wear plugs you could suggest to her to get "flesh" plugs, like these, http://www.bodyjewelrysource.com/body-jewelry/ear-plugs-spacers/acrylic-fleshtone-double-flared-ear-plugs.html which are acrylic, or these http://www.bodyjewelrysource.com/body-jewelry/ear-plugs-spacers/solid-silicone-ear-plugs.html which are silicone and may make it look like she doesn't have any peircings in her ears at all

    Thanks ladies.

I guess I got some research to do.

Briana- I love those but IDK if they would work with the dresses.

My sister has her ears gauged to the point where she can't wear normal earrings any longer in her first holes. I am not requiring my BMs to wear jewelry other than a necklace that I am going to be purchasing for them so I'm really not worried about it.

I don't think very many people are going to be inspecting her ears. If you are worried about what she's going to wear, then I would go with the other suggests that the ladies have already stated.

My brother has gauged ears and I just hate it. Like, who thought of this and why? but that is a personal opinion. Anyways, I'd just work with it the best I could. I mean, there's nothing much you can do about it other than what other ladies have suggested. Good luck!

Jessica, there are SO many different types of gauged earrings you can choose from, those that I posted are from bodyjewelrysource.com. They have all kinds of body jewelry and the largest selections of gauged wear that I can find.

Alondra it is a personal choice to gauge ones ears, I chose to because i can't wear normal earrings to begin with, I'm allergic to almost all metal so I chose to gauge them and get natural plugs and such that I can wear.

My cousin is going to be one of my bridesmaids and she has gauged ears, too. I was planning on buying all of the girls earrings (similar styles, but letting them choose what each of them liked from these styles) and I didn't want her to feel left out.

I did some research and found that Etsy seems to have the prettiest gauge earrings...especially this seller called arksendeavor. She has beautiful jewelry on her site!! I did notice that gauges are a bit more expensive in general than regular earrings, but I am happy to get these for my cousin because I feel like she could wear them again to other formal events.

One piece of advice (as another poster mentioned) would be to ask your SIL what size she is. My cousin is a 00 which apparently translates to 10mm...learn something new every day!! Smiley winking

    Good luck! Smiley smile
