Labor day weekend wedding

Deciding whether to write "labor day weekend" along with my wedding date on my invitation. Or is this not proper?

I have a friend getting married that weekend and she did not put that on her invitation. I think it would look a little odd to be honest.

I don't think it would be necessary to include that. If your wedding is formal, I think it would actually be pretty inappropriate.

I'm getting married that weekend as well- I did not put it on there- but I can see why you'd want to.

That weekend is three days long. How would they know which day the wedding will occur?

    I don't think it's necessary.

I think adults should be able to look at the calendar and know it is a holiday weekend.

I got married LDW many eons ago. We had several no-shows, and at the time I thought it might be cause people decided to go to a BBQ instead of our wedding. From pots here, though, I think it was in the 'usual' range. I don't think telling them upfront will keep that from happening (if that was your concern).

Thank you everyone, Zoe that was my concern, thus thought if I told them upfront they can plan accordingly. However from all the feedback, its obvious that its a no-go. Plus my event is formal and I dont want the labor day weekend tag to make them think its more laid back. I really appreciate the feedback.

I'm getting married on labor DAY. I figure people can have their last weekend of summer and end it at a cocktail party. Plus it's our dating anniversary!

Because it is a holiday weekend, I would just be sure to mail the invitations fairly early so that guests can make plans. (Or at least mail early to the ones you really hope will attend!)

I'm not putting that on mine. We are having a destination wedding and sent out STD's early to give people time to plan for traveling. Most of our immediate family members are staying an entire week.
