"L" shaped Reception Venue Space

CatMom0715, on October 14, 2019 at 8:08 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hello,

I have finally found a venue that is beautiful and in my budget. The only downside is that the reception room is "L" shaped. So, all of the tables would be in the L room, and the dance floor is separate/next to the L room. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make it work? The other option is a better room, but $2000 more & I'm not trying to spend that.

I have a similar reception space; the tables are in one room and the dance floor is in an adjoining room. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it either, especially since we plan to have a buffet.

We're also having a buffet. They don't have any pictures of people using this particular room, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Hmm. Maybe take a good look at the reception timeline to figure out what makes the most sense for the set-up. The reception would feel really fragmented if people had to keep shuffling from room to room. Is there enough room in your 'L room' for the buffet? Maybe in the little part of the L? That way it's kinda separated visually from the table area? Is the dance floor room directly adjacent?

My reception is a U so kinda similar. My dinner is in one room and dance floor is in another. Connected by a lobby type area. We’re doing plated so not sure about how the buffet would work. We’re going to do all of the first dances and cake cutting in the dining room. We’re also going to place some tables in the dance floor room so that people who don’t like to dance or don’t want to can still be with everyone if they want to.

My venue was L shapes with the dance floor in the middle and tables on each side. The head table went long the dance floor

Hmm maybe see if you can have a few “standing tables” and a few seated tables in the room with the dance floor - just to keep traffic flowing from room to room ?

Thanks y'all for the input! I spoke with the venue today & they're actually renovating it to open it up more!

Do you have more pictures of your venue? This is how mine is set up as well and I'm looking for ideas that would help design the space.
