I recently saw this article and thought of some of the threads I've seen here on WW related to weight and the dread of having photographs taken. For all of you that don't feel like you're where you "need to be" - this is for you! Article:...

Yes, I tried on some wedding dresses the other day for the first time. My MOH took pics and as I looked through them I feel disgusted. I had lost a bunch of weight and was feeling really good about myself. Then I met FH and gained it all back (thanks to being happy, haha) so now I have to start all over to get back to that. He loves me the way I am but I put pressure on myself. Good thing I have lots of time! I just want to feel as good as possible. I've never been super skinny, I am naturally curvy, which is fine. I just want to get back to where I was when we met. I was feeling really great!

I've gained a lot of weight since being with FH, part of it is medical, part of it is laziness. I've started to really get into gear this year and have been seeing really small results. Even so, I'm still having a lot of anxiety about what I'll look like in my wedding photos. This was much needed. An emotional read for me, but worth it.

I hear you! I've definitely packed on 20 lbs since meeting FH- but so has he. I'd like to lose some weight before our engagement photos but don't see it happening Smiley sad

Thank you for this. This is the one thing I might be freaking out the most about because I always feel like I look so much heavier in pictures. I'm heavy enough and that notion makes me more critical and anxious. I just have to keep telling myself that "I'm beautiful, I'll be beautiful on our wedding day and no matter what Jeremy loves me how I am now and he'll love me then."

Honestly, I feel I'm too fat to be photographed, or at least I won't be happy with how I look. I am a far way off from being overweight but even when I've been a stick I wasn't happy then either. I literally pushed back my engagement pics so I could lose more weight and guess what, I didn't. This was a good reminder that it doesn't really matter in the long run picture wise.

@Future Mrs C. I feel the same way! I gained weight after I met my FH & then another 60lbs while I was pregnant... I take pictures of our almost 3 year old all the time but do my best to stay out of them myself. Working on making the changes to be healthy for myself and my family.

It's precisely why we did not take engagement photos.

I've always been overweight except for a few times in my life. I Lost 70 lbs 2 years ago but gained 20 back the past few months. Partly due to happy relationship syndrome I'm sure but I don't really like how I look photos. I'm going to try and trust they the photographer will know how to make me look good! I'm thinking of doing boudoir photos perhaps to boost my confidence.

I'm planning on getting the gastric sleeve but it will be a few more months from now so I'm just trying to not gain any more!

I go through this so much. My FSIL is adorable and thin and she photographs so well. When I try to look cute in a picture I just hate it. I really don't want to feel that way about my wedding photos...I've heard having a boudoir shoot can help so I've booked a photographer for that. I've been working on my self esteem for a long time and the best I can manage are feeling satisfied and pretty, maybe sometimes confident and sexy (like with my wedding dress). I hate taking pictures, up until almost 4 yrs ago when FH and I started dating there was only 1 picture of myself on FB.

Thank you so much for sharing this. And for you ladies for sharing as well.

@celia I just listened to that podcast this weekend and thought it was amazing!!! It has a couple of book recommendations that sound really good as well.

It's so crazy hard for most women I know, including myself, to love and accept ourselves...but I think remembering that all of the beautiful women around us are struggling with the same self-shaming thoughts really helps.

Early confession: we had our engagement photo shoot on saturday and I'm dying for a teaser shot as promised by our photographer...not because I'm excited to see us looking happy and in love, but because I'm terrified that I'll look fat and awful.
