Kohl's registry

Mrs. Lav, on March 22, 2015 at 9:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

So I've seen posters say not to register at Kohl's...can someone share actual experiences or provide background info? FH loves Kohl's and has a Kohl's card, plus we have a great store less than 5 min away. We're there all the time. Why shouldn't we register there? Just looking for some insight.

FYI, we're definitely registering at BBB too.

We registered at Kohls and haven't had any issues. We have one right by our house as well, and it has a lot of the things we need. It was really easy to do in store and then come home and add/change things online.

I don't have an issue with Kohl's. It's kind of annoying that we scanned something in the store and when we checked out registry at home, a decent amount of them said "Online only". Which doesn't make sense. We scanned some placemats and they say they are online only. Even though we scanned them in the store. It also says out of stock, so it won't let me change the amount wanted. So right now we are registered for 1 placemat :/ Other than that, I like Kohl's because people can use 30% off and get Kohl's cash. Plus, it says for everything purchased by our guests we will earn points towards gift cards to finish off the registry afterwards. And Kohl's is nationwide, so that's easy. If you like things from there, go for it.

I used Kohl's and loved it. You get a gift card after you wedding for 10% of the value of your registry. We had guests purchase just over $800 off of our registry so we got a girft card for $80 after the wedding. Also, after the wedding you get a 20% coupon to use to purchase its in your registry that were not purchased for you. H and I registered for a couple really nice pillows (the $50 kind). No one bought them for us so we bought them with gifts cards and our 20% coupon after the fact. I totally recommend Kohls Smiley smile

We're using Kohl's and haven't had any issues except that a lot of things are out of stock online.

I think the issue people sometimes have with Kohls is that they change inventory a lot. However, they have an awesome return policy! I shop there all the time Smiley smile

I shop at Kohls a good bit, and I would have registered there but my friend, who got married last summer warned me against it. Her issue was that a lot of the kitchen servingware pieces she picked, that had bamboo components, arrived broken. So that sort of turned me off, plus I ended up finding my dish pattern elsewhere. But they have a good return policy, so all in all I don't think it's a terrible place to register.

I love our local Khols and I am registered there as well. I have purchased lots of gifts for others off of Khols registries. What issues have people had?

Haha, Monica, that's why I'm asking. I read a lot of these registry threads and people will say "Don't register at Target or Kohl's" and then never provide a reason. Glad to see that people had good experiences, though!

I haven't had any issues with my kohl's registry, but my target registry has been a constant pain in my arse. Every other week, item availability changes, pictures of the items don't work, or I can't even log it.

Not my personal experience, but from a lot of websites I've heard about Target/Kohl's (more Target though) is that their return policies are horrendous, especially if you are returning a lot of it at once, lose the registry, etc. Kohl's I have heard heard and there, but I've almost heard unanimously about how bad Target is. Might be old or new policy, but I heard that people were like "capped off" from returning stuff to Target after a certain dollar amount. Seems like Kohls/Target are kind of spoken in the same breath to avoid when it comes to registries but I hear a far lot worse about Target than Kohls.

I like Kohls for stuff, but the Kohls by me aren't super huge so I feel like the selection isn't that high vs BB&B.

I love kohls and am registered there. That's pretty much where everyone around here shops and hello...coupons! I haven't heard anything bad about it.

I registered at Kohls and my only issues were that items were out of stock online a lot and that when making returns without a gift receipt you only get the lowest selling price, which is way lower than what the person actually paid for it. At Macys they are able to look up the transaction with the labels if you don't have a receipt and give you the price the gifter actually paid.

I registered at Kohls and only have had issues with out of stocks. Inventory seems to change before it's even time for your shower! Everything that went out of stock at Kohls, I just added at BB&B.

I created a Kohls registry but didn't share it because of the out of stock issue. I didn't look at my registry for a couple of months and everything was out of stock! I just didn't feel like babysitting it to make sure there were gifts available.

I am however a frequent Kohls shopper, so every time I buy something, I add it to my registry first so I get the 10% back after the wedding!

One of my bamboo utensils from BBB has already broken as well. Maybe its a bamboo issue not a Kohl's issue lol.

Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with the Kohl's wedding registry. When people purchased items off the registry, it wouldn't sync online with our account. So in the end, we wound up receiving numerous duplicates of all the basic items (at least 4 sets of cutting boards, 5 sets of silverware, multiple sets of mixing bowls, etc). However, when we went to return them, we didn't have receipts for all the gifts, and they would only give us back the lowest amount that item has sold for. So in the end, we were walking away with significantly less than what people had spent on our gifts. The entire return process was a nightmare. Although Kohls had a lot of items we wanted, they really need to work on improving the system before couples use it. We wound up with a lot of frustrations after getting married - and a closet full of duplicate items to be returned. In the end, we wished we had just registered solely at Bed Bath & Beyond, where they simply needed your registry number and they could process returns in less than 5 minutes - and you receive back exactly what your guests spent.
