Knowledge of Beatles songs, Anyone?

Hilery, on July 26, 2013 at 11:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

I do not want the traditional wedding March song! FH favorite band is The Beatles. I thought it would be a nice to surprise to have a song by them play when I'm walking down the isle.

Issue is, I don't know enough songs by them.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a song I could use? I thought about maybe using 'All You Need is Love' but I actually like the Across the Universe version better than the original Beatles version!

In My Life always makes me cry (probably too because it reminds me of the movie For the Boys...)

I like Here Comes the Sun and In my Life too, but if you want something fun and silly, go with When I'm 64 Smiley winking

A more light hearted option would be I Wanna Hold Your Hand, but that may be too lively for a walk down the aisle

I've just seen a Face is one of my favorites. But I do like the version from Across the Universe the best.

We used All You Need is Love as our Recessional. I like the idea of In My Life for entrance.

I'm walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of In My Life. It's really pretty; I can give you the info for it if you're interested.

I thing Vitamin String Quartet does a bunch of the Beatles songs as instrumentals if you wanted to use one of their songs without lyrics. If he's a big fan he will still recognize the tune.

I went to a wedding where they had a string quartet playing various Beatles songs/instrumentals as guests arrived and for the processional/recessional. It was lovely. A solo acoustic guitar player would be awesome too. Said the girl who didn't spring for any live musicians for her wedding...

Specific songs I suggest: "And I love her" for processional and "Two of Us" or "Here comes the sun" for recessional

Laura Nicole- will you please? Smiley smile

These are all such great suggestions.

Weddings seem to always be a lot of visions from the bride since the groom doesn't really care about the smalls details. So I'm trying to find ways to incorporate little surprises that reflect who he is, also! And he's a drummer so I've been trying to find a way to get that in also without him knowing!

I'm walking down to Till There Was You. I'm a huge Beatles fan and knew this was the song since I was very little.

Ugh too many to name! The Beatles is one of my favorite bands of all time! My wedding has so many beatles songs, it's a little ridiculous.

I agree that most songs listed are the most wedding-y options. You may also like solo songs by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Our first dance song is to "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul. "Stand by Me" by Lennon is great too! My dad and I are dancing to that!

If you're not too familiar with their songs, try listening to some Beatles playlists on Youtube. Their music is amazing and you will get to pick a song you really love so it's a win/win situation, lol!

@Julie, When I'm 64 is the song we're using for our cake cutting song! It is perfect for it! My friend is getting married before me (she doesn't really listen to the beatles that much ) and she tried to take the song and I was like "um...no" lol!
