Kinda embarrassing...

So I want to look nice "down there" for my wedding night and honeymoon. When I shave it doesn't last long and razor burn happens a lot, so I heard that getting a bikini wax would work. I have never had anything waxed before. Any advice? Like when to have it done, how many times, where to go? I am...

I agree with everyone suggesting European Wax Center. I've been a faithful wax client since I was 18 (now 25) and I've never had any of those problems in the article. I can't imagine not waxing, FH wouldn't care either way, but to me waxing is a way I pamper myself. I don't get my nails done, but I do keep my waxes up!

I loves getting waxed(stopped because of the cost). I highly recommend going to someone that uses hard versus soft wax.

Try sugaring! Works just as well as waxing but it's much gentler on the skin and less painful.

Maybe I had a bad wax job, but my one and only Brazilian was excruciating. I just don't get paying $60 for something so painful and temporary. I'm considering laser instead.

I've never gotten waxed, but I get terrible razor burn. I personally prefer no hair, so I use Magic Cream. It's a Nair-type cream made for men's faces, so it's really gentle. I have super coarse, dark hair and I have to leave it on for about 20 minutes, and scrape off with an old credit/gift card. It does an awesome job though and I only have to use it every 2-3 weeks. I love it. Definitely do a test patch though to see if you react to it!

I know it's available at Walmart and Walgreens in the men's shaving stuff.

I just can't handle pain and I thought it hurt bad! I teared up and had to have her stop half way through to calm myself down. I'm such a big baby. BUT I did make it through. Not sure I would ever do it again though.

Maybe for honeymoon like some ladies are talking but since we're not going right away, shaving is just fine by me for now.

Good luck! I put an ice pack on my vayjay for the rest of the afternoon when I got it done!

Waxing is the only way to go! Take Advil before go and drink lots of water that really helps me!

I'm also gonna advocate for sugaring instead of waxing. Hurts less and easier clean up :-)

Definitely do a week in advance. Whenever I get waxed down there, I'm red for a few days and it's blotchy.

My #1 suggestion is not to use dry wax! I've been waxed with no strip and with strip and I 100% believe it's less painful when they use traditional wax with a strip.

When they let the wax dry and just rip the wax off...ouch!!

@2d Bride - I would never do it either.

@Briana - You are not the only one. I do the same thing you do. :-)

I have been getting Brazilian waxes consistently for a year and I love them! I go to The Pretty Kitty. I don't know if they have them everywhere but they are a chain here in CA. They are super clean, friendly and do the wax in about 10 mins.I have tried European wax center once and it hurt so bad!!! I think it was the wax they used, I am not sure. But man oh man did that hurt. The soft wax was way less painful in my opinion. Like 100x less painful!

The lady who waxes me has told me not to drink caffeine the day I am getting wax (some how it increases sensitivity) and to take Ibuprofen before hand.

Also my waxes usually last about 5-6 weeks. The first time I got a wax, it lasted so long!

Get a Brazilian. It's really not bad at all. And NO PAIN MEDS OR WINE! Advil and alcohol are blood thinners and you will bleed easier
