Kids items at wedding

Kevin, on August 11, 2021 at 8:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 7
So we are inviting kids to our wedding as we have lots of little nieces and nephews and our cousins kids as well as some the little ones of those in our wedding party. There will be about 20 kids invited. Our caterer offers a kids meal which is chicken nuggets and Mac n cheese. We were also thinking about getting those activity coloring books off Etsy or Amazon to keep them busy. What is a good age cutoff for these items we have kids ranging from 3 to 12 and I know the little will love it but the older ones would think it’s lame. Should we do it for all the kids? I didn’t know if it would be weird to just ask the parents if their kids would want those things or just assume? Any thought?

We have a good amount of kids on my FH's side. We have coloring books, I Spy handouts & candy favors for them at a kid's only table. We learned early on that asking the family for their opinions can turn sticky real fast & become a headache lol so we decided on our own that 10 would be the cut off age but juuust in case, printed off a few extras that our coordinator will set aside. Smiley smile

We're also allowing kids, I'm making bags with custom activity books with crayons, glow sticks, a lollipop, and maybe stickers or something else I haven't decided. I'm just going to make enough for anyone under 14, because it'll be fairly cheap and whatever doesn't get used won't be a huge deal.

Chicken nuggets and mac & cheese will definitely be a hit with all of the kids!

What about doing a photo I Spy or scavenger hunt for the older kids who are too old for coloring books?

I agree with trying to find multiple activities for each age range. Even just one activity for a 5 or 6 year old will not keep them occupied for long. I like the idea of making small bags depending on age with a few things to do. Definitely don't ask the parents because you'll end up with way too many opinions and they may be expecting to see what they mentioned.

We just put a bunch of stuff at the kid table so kids of all the varying ages had studs to choose from (if I’m honest, some adults went over and participated during the reception 🤣). We put out: coloring books, crayons, candy, glow sticks, cards, Jenga and puzzles. My 4 year old said her favorite part was the “glowie sticks”.

Did anyone do some specifically kid friendly/kid geared music at their weddings? 28 kids coming and I know that kids can really get the dance floor moving Smiley smile
