Kids in the wedding: Should i hire a magician? a face painter? or both?

Aiko, on June 11, 2015 at 11:39 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 35

So I have about 20 kids coming to the wedding (under 10 years old) and about 5 kids in their teens. I have a kid's room designated for them with a TV and there will be two movies playing (Disney's UP and big hero 6). I have provided outdoor games such as a Frisbee and nerf ball for them to play with as well as board games in the room and toys for the kids. On top of that I have a photobooth. Uhm...I'm thinking of getting a face painter for the kids...or a magician? Yeaaay? or Naaaaay? What do you guys think? Or suggestions on anything else I can do?

It is a wedding, not a circus. It isn't your responsibility to entertain them.

Parents might not want their kids' faces getting painted while they are wearing their formal clothes.

This is your wedding, not a carnival. I wouldn't do either. Thats over the top IMO.

You are already doing enough. I wouldn't go with either option.

No! But Legos are always a win. And less disrupted. A kids room and movies is beyond what you need.

Your wedding is going to be more involved then a kids birthday party.

Noooo don't do it. They will probably just be glued to the tv.

Seems like a huge waste of money. Let them run around, like all kids do at weddings anyway.

Not necessary. As a question, who is going to supervise these children in a room without their parents.

I would honestly do the magician. Find a time where you want them to be really glued to that room. Maybe feed them first and when the parents are sitting down to eat have the magician come. Then the parents can have a meal. Kids nowadays with the constant TV and entertainment aren't always glued to a TV...

I wouldn't, the parents will feel obligated to be with their children while the magician is entertaining them and their faces are getting painted and not enjoying your wedding. Plus, it's a wedding not a carnival. Kids love dancing at weddings, I know my sister and I did when we went to weddings as kids. The movie room is a great idea, but you're already going above and beyond for the kids. I think what you already have planned is fine.

Hahaha....okay guys. Thanks!!!! I appreciate your input. I have my nieces and nephews and was just wanting something for the kids. The kids area won't be supervised but the wall will be half open so adults can sort of peer into the room from the reception. Ya'll were right...I guess I was just thinking too much for the kids... Mrs. Pope...hahaha, love that Nicki Minaj photo. And to Rachel....sit down and eat their chicken nuggets is right!!! Thaaaaanks guys!
