Ketubah Artist- NYC

8815wedding, on September 29, 2014 at 3:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi all! Does anyone have a good recommendation for a ketubah artist in the NYC area? We want to get something beautiful and unique and are willing to spend $200-400(ish) since it will be hanging in our house for the rest of our lives, but it's pretty hard to find ketubah artists through vendor searches.

Anyone have someone they can recommend? So far I've looked at Stephanie Caplan, but I don't love her prints and her custom stuff is too pricey.

Www.mpartworks.com They have some really pretty designs, and there are some that start at 99.00. My go-to rabbi recommended them to me.

We got ours from mpartworks, and it is very nice!! We chose the canvas and a semi-custom text, and it was still under $400.

As far as pricing, most of the artists working freelance in NYC will cost well above $500. . . Smiley sad

Date2be - yes, it is customary to have a Ketubah, since it is essentially the Jewish equivalent of a marriage license. According to Jewish law, in order to be valid the Ketubah must be signed by two male witnesses, both of whom must be observant Jews and cannot be related to each other or the bride/groom.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Celia, those ketubahs are gorgeous!!

We Worked with Hadass at The Painted Ketubah (www.thepaintedketubah.com) and had a great experience - I think she is based in New York as well.

Yep, definitely MP Artworks - we got our ketubah there for $120. And you can personalize them with secular texts, if you so choose.
