Keeping Your Decor Post-reception

InWaiting, on October 28, 2019 at 4:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are hunting for wedding day decor ranging from wedding cake toppers, champagne flutes, cake cutting sets, etc. We decided if something is going to cost and arm and a leg, we want to try to keep it (and might as well have it personalized). BUT we don't want to store it in an old box somewhere to only come across when we are moving. Has anyone found creative and tasteful ways to keep your personalized wedding decor? Besides a shadow box, of course.

Thank you!!!

Our centerpieces are lanterns with candles inside, so very easy to work into our typical home decor. We decided to do a whiskey barrel lid as our guest board so we can hang it on the wall instead of having a book to tuck away in a closet or a drawer. I’ll probably have my bouquet preserved somehow as well.

We didn’t have a wedding cake or special toasting flutes. But we framed one of our invitations, our ketubah is on the wall, and the shattered glass from the glass my husband stepped on after the ceremony is inside a mezuzah on the outside of our bedroom door.

Sorry, we did a Shadow Box for our Cord of 3 set and Vows as well as an Ikea Socker Greenhouse that doubled as our Card Box and now Display Box for the 🍷Ceremony set, 🎂 Cutting Set and Topper, and Veil.

Here’s an Ikea Socker Greenhouse for $7.

Husband and I did this too! The China we have sells a matching picture frame, so we’re putting a photo and our invitation in that frame in the China cabinet. With it in the cabinet, we’ll keep the personalized champagne flutes (to toast with on anniversaries), the cake cutting set, and our glass sand ceremony kit.

We made a few signs of our last name (Kuester est. 2019) that we’ll hang up as wall decor or use for our basement wet bar decor. Same with photo frames used for our table numbers, signs, etc. and the fairy lights used for our centerpieces. We also did a “guest globe” instead of a guest book, so we’ll use that as decor in our bedroom since we picked something that matches Smiley smile Good luck and have fun!

I was thinking about this. I don't see the point of not utilizing the cake cutters again for holidays? Why not, rather than them just sitting in a drawer. I will be putting my cake topper in a shadow box surrounded by the dried flowers from my bouquet and other floral arrangements.
