Keeping safe before wedding - for those working outside the home

Kristen, on July 29, 2020 at 2:22 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 30

Hello ladies. Just curious. For those that are working in a public setting (I am a teacher going back in a couple of weeks and my fh works in a food distribution company) where they are around many people. Any tips on keeping safe before the wedding? Of course we wear masks and try to keep as safe as possible and avoid very busy places for the most part but there are no guarantees. Obviously we cannot take off work for weeks to quarantine but for anyone having their wedding or had their wedding during this time what did you do? We are just having a microwedding and with guests, officiants and photographers in total we will be under 10 people but of course for us two I wanna avoid masks and catching COVID so we can take pictures freely. Of course more so keeping us and our few guests safe but if they wanna wear a mask that is fine. Smiley smile

I think the only thing you can do is to continue what you're doing. Avoiding outside of the norm events, keeping yourselves around the same group of people.

We are both essentials workers (Airlines and Manufacturing) and our entire guest lists are also Essential workers (Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail, etc). And we stay as safe as we can, avoid travel unless we have to, avoid eating out (lots of take out - correction moderate take out), only go to grocery stores once a week and if we can postpone longer we do.

We also try to boost our immunity in as many homeopathic ways as possible. But mostly, we stay away from other people and maintain 6ft when we can't.

I feel for you and returning to school - Hope it's a positive return.

One of the bridesmaids in the bridal party I’m in works in healthcare and she said she’s gonna get tested before she comes to the events. I know that is not possible for everyone though but that’s what she’s doing.

God bless you as you both deal with more people than I do lol. My kiddos will be told they need to keep their distance from me and luckily in my county masks are required. Yeah I am even thinking to move up my bachelorette (which will only be a few but at this point if it is me and two good friends that is fine lol) to give me at least three weeks just going to work and home. Recently I have limited more going out and I bought some zinc and vitamin c plus I intake a good amount of veggies and fruits (or try to lol). I think you make some good points and I will increase that a few weeks prior to. Smiley smile Thank you so much.

I thought of that but truthfully I have had two tests and honestly if I am feeling good I would prefer to feign ignorance lol. Sounds dumb as hell but prefer not to postpone lol.

We've got this! We've been patient and it WILL work out for us FL Brides.

Yay for a county that mandates masks and 6ft SD in school - praying your students maintain the same healthy habits that we all have and do.

I am and have been a huge fan of Emerg-C and it's counterparts (found on amazon) - they've kept me very healthy the last several years.

Yea it’s also hard to get tested and the results can take a while. She just wanted to do it as another measure of ensuring everyone’s safety.

Luckily I teach high school so they get it plus they know I will end them otherwise lol. Oh yeah I could pop some more emergen-c as well. That is a great idea and yes it will work out. I told my MOH if she wants to wear a mask that is fine. I am just over planning as much as possible lol.

Everything is good, pick up my dress and his and his son's suit next week (after alterations) and really only left to do is the customizing of our Welcome Bags and masks (Hot Iron required). And can't even assemble those until we're in FL. So, now it's just wait and see and read every news article that affects every state our families live in and of course FL restrictions and guidelines.

I know too many people who know way too much about Covid and these inflated numbers and cases and my own research just keeps leading me to believe that we're safe - And then my own conspiracy theory says while I completely believe in Covid (and know many people/friends that lost lives to it and fortunately many have recovered from it) whatever is happening NOW (regarding reopenings)... is all political. Again, just my own personal theory from my own research...

I think we will be fine too but just taking extra precautions. Worst worst case then masks it is but I wanna avoid that. I just told fh that for three weeks prior we should be more cautious esp since our honeymoon is less than a week afterwards. LOL As I figured I am more excited about the ceremony and he is more about the honeymoon going forth as planned ha ha.

I got married in 2019, so I'm not a COVID bride. That being said, my husband and I were VERY concerned about getting a cold or the flu before our wedding. We didn't wear a mask (so that would be something to change because of COVID concerns) but we did take other precautions. We washed our bed sheets & couch blankets every 3 days in hot water, changes our bath towels every day (washed in hot water), made an effort to wash our hands every hour or so throughout the day and use hand sanitizer in stores, sanitize our desks weekly, and our phones/glasses/keyboards every day, and do a lot more household cleaning (we use bleach products for almost all our cleaning) several times a week. We also stayed up on drinking plenty of water, eating healthy, and taking multivitamins. We cleaned out our cars weekly. With COVID it seems like limiting contact with people (no hugging, shaking hands, etc.) and limiting grocery store visits/eating out/errands/etc. wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Oh those are all good points. I told him when he and I return to work we need to come in through the garage and drop clothes off in the laundry room lol. Good point about the best sheets and I can make a bleach solution but wipes are becoming more avail but I will keep this in mind. Thank you so much. Smiley smile

    NICE!

Because his son is in our wedding and it's his fall break we're staying at our wedding resort in Islamorada for a week with him. So, it's essentially our "familymoon" Smiley smile

Beach, snorkeling, SUPs, kayaks and all.... Honestly, because of Covid, we skipped our spring vacation so at this point familymoon, whatever it will just be nice to be away from work for a week.

Oooooh. I have never been there but I've heard that it is beautiful. You know what if I had my way and of course if Corona wasn't so problematic I would have loved to have married abroad and turn it into a honeymoon. In fact my original plan was to Honeymoon at a resort and get married over there since most of them have packages for weddings hahaha.

In a perfect world, I would've done a ceremony in Hungary at our home there.

We'll have to do our "over the pond" plans for our 1 year anniversaries Smiley smile
