Just got informed today that our Wedding Venue is closing at the end of the month!!

Lindsey, on December 16, 2019 at 6:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 5

We just got word today that our wedding venue is closing it's doors on Dec.29th. Our wedding is planned for
June 13, 2020 in a smaller town that doesn't have really many other options. I'm just a ball of emotions has I have no Idea what to do. The way I look at it is, we have had this date at the venue planned since beginning of Dec. 2018 and we plan to get married in June (one of the busiest months for a wedding). We feel like we will not be able to find another venue so close to our wedding date. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks from the Bride who is freaking out!

My suggestion is to look in surrounding areas.

I would suggest looking into venues that you normally wouldn't think of for weddings. For example we had or ceremony and reception at a community center. It was affordable, and available and where we actually met at back in 1985 at a dance!

I would consider VFW halls, UAW halls, American Legion halls, Eagles clubs, elks clubs, places that that are usually always available, are set up for parties, have tables and chairs already, and usually a kitchen you can use.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I would reach out to surrounding venues ASAP and explain your situation. You may find venues willing to book a Friday or Sunday date if your original Saturday day is booked. You may also be able to find new venues that are not completely booked yet. Many newer venues will also give you discounts for booking within 6 months of your wedding date. Ask about discounts like that and try to focus on new wedding venues in the area. Or, as Laura mentioned, event spaces that are specifically wedding venues. Good luck!
