I just wanted to gently remind everyone that proper spelling and grammar makes it much easier for the members posting on the forums to understand each other. If you're looking for pertinent and helpful advice refraining from using ALL CAPS and confusing they're, their, and there and not using realtor and a retailer interchangeably, will go a long way.

Whenever I see it spelled "cumin" I think about how much I hate that spice.

Hahaha. Were you around for LaMarcus and LaFayda, the Memphis Grizzlies trolls? They were hilarious.

    Isle is an island.

Aisles are at the grocery store and your wedding.

They could be realtors if they are representing my sand castle that is now for sale!

Also, JTW - this is not a crossword puzzle.

Tracy, my mind is generally in the gutter so I'm surprised that isn't ever my first thought. Go figure.

Nope, I totally missed LaMarcus. I think I had JUST joined when his account was officially busted.

I also go batsh*t crazy when someone uses the word, "literally." I abhor it because it's either used incorrectly: "I got so scared, I literally jumped twenty feet." No. No you did not. OR it is unnecessary: "I smashed my finger in the car door. It literally hurt so bad." Why would I assume you were figuratively in pain?

I'm not perfect, but bad spelling and improper grammar drive me crazy too!

Here are a couple sentences that should help drive the point home:

It's important to know the difference between "your poop" and "you're poop."

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

My personal pet peeves are the "should of" instead of "should have" thing, "your, you're" and "it's, its."

This website is for wedding and wedding only. Not about how well you can spell and how good is your grammar.

Thanks, Stacy for the exemption you posted for us ESL people but do we really have to point out this. Does it really affect the ability to help other brides.

I know i am probably get some heat because of this post but what the hell

@Sandralyse, it does matter because sometimes you can't understand what is being said to help another bride.

It does affect our ability to help other brides, when we can't even read the post.

@Sandralyse, the little nit-picky things we're talking about do not affect our ability to help other brides (like my "your" vs "you're peeve). We've kind of hijacked the thread by listing those things.

I believe that the OP was referring to people who don't use any punctuation, thereby creating massive run-on sentences. It can get confusing when trying to help people if we can't understand exactly what they're asking.

There also have been an influx of troll brides pushing their websites who sell shoddy knock-off dresses. They tend to be the WORST offenders of poor grammar and spelling. Check out this thread if you haven't already:

Not sure what the crossword puzzle comment is about, but whatever...

Nevermind I got it, but still not sure why you felt it was necessary to comment on it :\

I agree with Sandralyse. although it may be a pet peeve, it doesnt stop us from helping each other. i dont see the need to pick at every little thing on this forum. let's just get to the cause of why the these brides are posting these forums.

sn: & please dont correct me because i typed in all lower case

    thanks & smooches!!

@ Stacy well i have seen that there is a lot of trolls selling dresses here and yes their grammar is even shameful for me...lol

I guess i get a little defensive when i read anything about people having bad grammar because of the hard road i had learning to write correctly English...

but i can understand where you guys are coming from...

I must say I have major respect for folks who are learning English as a second language. It's very difficult, especially because it isn't phonetic (even that isn't spelled how it sounds!) and there are different meanings for words that sound exactly the same (pail/pale; through/threw; Read/Read (reed/red). Whew....

And for the record, Sandralyse, I have never had a hard time understanding any of your posts :-)

You know that's such a hard word for me to remember to spell. You know how many time i have chose to use a easier word in my sentence just because i didn't know how to spell it.

but thanks FMW batLlama now i will definitely remember how to spell it...
