June/summer Brides Wedding Postponements

Theadra, on July 18, 2020 at 7:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

Hello beautiful brides. I hope you all are doing well and staying safe , as well as your loved ones. My husband and I postponed our wedding from June 28 to Sept 6 (recently our California gov just shut us down again🙄) And we knew it was going to be a possibility, so we postponed our wedding a year out from our original date , June 27 (since the 28 is a Monday) Lucky enough all of our vendors were able to still accommodate our event , with a minor 150 deposit from a photo-booth ( which can easily be recovered ). I was just wondering if there are any other June brides/ summer brides that have postponed for a year out and how some of you guys are doing?

I postponed from June 7th to September 20. I’m going to have to postpone to next year as all of my family is coming from NY. The governor said anyone who travels from Texas must quarantine for 14 days. Well all of my family is in the medical field so it wouldn’t be possible. On Monday we are going to call the venue /vendors and pick a new date for June 2021. I’m bummed but honestly I’m over it at the same time. I’ve never had so much time wasted on one thing that isn’t happening. Le sigh.

We just changed our 9/5/20 wedding to August 2021. It’s frustrating and I’ve had a couple of super emotional days because we were so close. We had a slight issue getting all of our vendors lined up the same date for next year and our venue didn’t have many dates left to choose from, but we finally all agreed on one. I hope everything works out amazingly for you next year! This thing is a dang roller coaster.

I live in Cali too and no it was surprise that the shut down was going happen again (but rightfully so, since “covidiots” can’t follow simple guidelines 🤦🏽‍♀️). Our wedding wasn’t in the summer but it is a destination wedding weekend in Vegas. So we postponed it a smidge over a year from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21 🤞🏽. It was total shock and much relief when our venue and every single vendor was available. Even better was that we didn’t lose any money or have to pay anything extra. Simply updated contracts with the new date. Thankfully, during these times, everyone is pretty understanding.

June 27th 2020 to June 19, 2021... It was so hard. But I feel better about it now because there isn't stress now. We're going to decide after Covid fall if we think we're moving forward. Our mini will be in 70 days. Just take it one day at a time.

We postponed from July 25th (this coming Saturday Smiley cry ) to May 22, 2021. It was heartbreaking to make that decision but we didn't know a lot then and we felt such relief to be able to move things to next year while we figure out what is going on. Luckily every vendor moved seamlessly with us and we didn't lose any money in the process. Now of course as COVID is not going away and in many cases getting worse, I know we made the right decision, but it is still hard. Next year isn't a guarantee that it will be a go either, but I think we will learn a lot more about hosting events over the next several months that we can make a good plan for next year.

We postponed from September 19th, 2020 to April 24th, 2021. It was hard for both of us to change the date.

Yeah I remember dealing with that with my father in law , since my husbands whole family is in Texas . I def don’t see that being a thing next year . I’m sorry love, I always just think how much more special our weddings will be because of the wait !

Yeah I felt the same way you do. I was a little stubborn but I rather feel a sense of relief than stress. And I do too believe that we will learn a lot more and have things in way more control

Well, change of plans... my NY crew said eff Rona 🤣. We are not going to postpone. I cannot see myself doing this all over again next year only to be on restrictions and recommendations still. We will do our best to be safe and proceed with caution. Good luck to you.
