June Wedding Postponements

Morgan, on April 8, 2020 at 11:35 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 8
My fiancé and I were set to get married in June 20, 2020. We had to make the very difficult decision to postpone until June 19, 2021.
We were sad, and angry, and frustrated for one day. Beyond that, we kicked ourselves into gear by saying to each other, “let’s make the most of it.”
There are so many positives coming out of this. We have more time to save our money to do things we otherwise weren’t able to afford, our friends having babies in June who could not make it can now most likely come next year. My bridal shower and bachelorette trip will not be rushed and we can take our time planning them again. The list goes on. Also, provided the bans will be lifted by June, we’re still getting married at the courthouse on 6/19/2020, so we can have nuptials the year after on our first year anniversary! Focus on the positives and only allow yourself to be mad and upset for so long. You have the right to be, but it will be so much easier when you start to look at the positives!I hope this helps someone going through what I went through.

I am happy you can find so many positives out of this! June 20th is our date too. We haven’t postponed yet, but I think it’s coming. ☹️

Thank you!! It’s a hard conversation and there were a lot of tears but our vendors and family have all been understanding! It’s been a fairly simple process. Now to just wait one more year! Haha

Congratulations on your positive thinking!! We are doing the same! We were June 27 and postponed to December 12th. Honestly, I am falling more in love with our new date than I thought I would. We now have time to pay off all our vendors and financial space for extra's (faux fur stoles for my girls and slippers) and we get to take our Caribbean honeymoon cruise in the winter now versus hot summer. What new things are you adding to your wedding now that you have more time and budget? What about your shower and BP plans?

We haven’t worked out many logistics yet, but we’ll be able to buy a house now in the meantime which is great. We may be able to afford up lighting, a photo booth, and definitely more food and drink on our honeymoon to Nashville! I’m not sure about the shower (it’s a surprise) and BP yet either but the potential to go somewhere cooler is definitely there! Congrats on your positive thinking as well, I love your new date!!!

I agree we’re July and just made the decision to move it to next July I can’t deny that I’m extremely sad and heartbroken but your right I’m going to allow myself the space to feel and then move forward it’s the right thing to do this summer is not realistic and it will not be enjoyable and I would never put my friends or family at risk it’s just not worth it. Thanks for your positivity!
