July weddings

Samantha, on April 2, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 8

Okay - I know that this has already been discussed, but I would like to know everyone's updated opinion. My wedding is scheduled for July 11th [2020]. We have 200 guests on our invite list. I live in Ohio where the stay at home order has been extended to May 1st. I would say that 90% of our guests are in Ohio and the guests who we are inviting from out of state were already a little iffy as to whether or not they were coming (we're inviting them because they're family and don't want to hurt any feelings, but we never speak to them). My venue hasn't reached out to me and I'm still holding out hope...what are you other July brides thinking? My photographer did text me, but we both agreed to wait it out. My caterer hasn't said anything.

My venue (all-inclusive) has said that they don't advise making any changes at this point. I don't think it makes sense to jump the gun, since right now the prediction is that we should see at least improvement by late April. You can Google the graphs showing the projections
Nobody on my guest list is coming from very far, and everyone has expressed that they would wait and see what the state of things is in two months before they just outright decided not to come.

With a July wedding I would wait to make any decisions for a bit. Hopefully it will all be over by then

Okay, thanks for sharing! My venue is relatively new and family-owned, so thanks for letting me know what your venue thinks. I see a lot of people postponing until July, so that gives me a little hope, too. And, obviously, we wouldn't be upset if some of our guests don't feel comfortable coming.

Our original date was April 11 and we are now hoping we can reschedule for July 18. We've decided to wait until Memorial day before putting out any official announcements and have made sure our new venue will refund or reschedule us if we have to again. Best of luck everyone!!

Hi ladies, I’m July 3rd and officially postponed to September 3rd, 2021! It was a tough decision and I am still heartbroken, but know it’s for the best. Best of luck to you all ❤️

    Hi date twin!

My wedding planner told me this week to move forward cautiously. She asked us to start thinking of a back-up date. Luckily, we reached out, and my venue still has Saturday dates available this year. Not all vendors will contact you first, so you have to be proactive in reaching out. My planner also said that everyone in the wedding industry are doing their best to accomodate because this is truly unprecedented. Finally, set a firm date on which you will make the decision to postpone or continue. Preparing now will help you be ready to make decisions when you absolutely need to.

Thank you! My fiance and I talked and I plan on calling my venue tomorrow, just to touch base with them to see what their feelings are. I feel so conflicted because I've heard that they believe the virus will be bad again in the fall, so it doesn't make sense to reschedule for the fall....and I really don't want to reschedule for next year. I guess we'll have to wait until it gets closer to the time, probably when it comes time to send out the invitations.

Hi - I'm kind of in the same boat. We moved our wedding from May 24th to July 25th, and I'm wondering if we'll be able to do it even then. I'm in Texas, and we are on "stay at home" through 4/30 but I'm guessing it's going to be extended. If I were you, I'd be contacting your vendor and caterer to see what your options are so that you still have options. I know there are folks dying, and that this may seem petty/shallow to some, but jeez - it feels awful. You finally find the right one, get the dress, line up hair, etc. - invite everyone...then BAM. Smiley sad Great luck. I've got everything crossed for all of us! Candice
