July brides postpone or wait?

Leeza, on May 2, 2020 at 9:34 PM Posted in California Planning 0 9
July 18, 2020 is our date. With about 200-230 guest count. Our venue said we still have 2 months to know what will happen and that they are pretty sure things will get better. As the days get closer idk what to do! I haven’t got my dresses fix nor start invitations because I am just stuck. I’m stressing out so much that my hair is falling out. .

July 11 and we sent out our invites on Thursday. I think the trend is positive, so we’re moving forward. If we ultimately decide to postpone, it will not be until June since so much can happen in the next month.

My original wedding date was 7/11/20, and we made the call last week to postpone. Everyone has different factors contributing to whether or not to postpone, but for us we couldn't see having the wedding that we wanted with 170 people while all of this is going on. My state also has stricter regulations in place for gatherings and hasn't begun phased reopening yet, so we also factored those in. Good luck! It is such a stressful time, but it's comforting to know that there is a community of people who are all going through the same thing!

    Hi Leeza,

I'm so sorry you are going through this! While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of July couples are waiting until the end of May to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

There are many resources on our website that may be helpful as you navigate the planning process. This is a great place to start: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide. You'll find articles like this one: What to Do About Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

And here's another discussion specifically about July 2020 Weddings! OsQM71bUJ0Qu4ly8UKJOrw-4MNRCjpvLo-YljRdj

First things first, I recommend that you call or email your venue and see how they're handling July events. Things are changing daily, so keeping the lines of communication open is important. That way, you can make decisions in a timely fashion.

    Good luck! akxoU0fWxdmfE9sHUjjkYB-ICl1lHJDh_sCPQOky

July 18th, 2020 here as well - date twins!

We reached out to our venue to get a back up plan (we are getting married in TN where things started opening up last week) and they said the only option we had was to reschedule during the week (M-Tr) for this year or next or move forward since they have started allowing weddings again May 1st.

I agree, it depends on your guest list, state, etc. But things are looking better for July brides as states start to open back up. I would wait it out as long as you could and try not to stress yourself out too much. I had to take a step back from the Internet/news for a few days or I thought I would lose my mind lol it helped.

    Good luck Smiley heart

Thank you so much. This really gave me hope! Things are opening back up until May 17 but as of this Friday stores are only for curbside. How many guest are you having? Is there any restrictions?

Honestly, my wedding is June 19th, and although we have talked about postponing we haven't made any concrete decisions yet. So as of right now we are still moving forward unless we are forced to change or we become absolutely sure that it wouldn't be able to happen with all the guest. Our guest count was only at 87 and that is if everyone came. Hopefully that offers you some hope Smiley smile

Another July 18th bride (postponed from June 6th). We are going to have a tiny ceremony on our original date - under 10 people, just immediate family. We are not sure what to do with the ceremony/reception that we rescheduled for July 18. Guest list is 80 and it is an outdoor venue, but space is not unlimited. I worry about anyone attending and becoming sick. I also don't want fear or anxiety over covid present at our celebration. We are considering having a 1-year anniversary ceremony reception in June 2021.
