July 2020 wedding stress

Cassie, on April 8, 2020 at 1:37 PM Posted in California Planning 0 5
Hi! Our wedding here in Southern California is July 1. We have about 60 guests and 2 are flying in from Washington, the rest are local. As a couple we decided to wait until the end of April to decide on our next move. Currently we can’t get a marriage license here until things open. If stay at home orders are lifted in May we’d like to go forward with our wedding. But obviously this changes day by day. We haven’t sent out invites yet but they have our date on them obviously along with some other wedding things we’ve gotten. Our plan B is to get married that day in a friends yard with closet family and doing a celebration next year at our venue which hopefully our guests will be understanding of. It isn’t ideal because we’ve put almost 2 years into planning. I’m curious if any other July brides are stressed right now and what you’re decided to do? Or anyone in the summer time. Any advice or just your experiences are helpful. Makes me feel like I’m not alone in this. Thank you!

    Hi Cassie,

I'm so sorry you had to change your plans, but I'm so glad you've locked down a new date!! BOpClAR83wqJF1bFtFERgypV_BICZsbBvwcIMhTa

There are many resources on our website that may be helpful as you navigate the planning process. This is a great place to start: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide. You'll find articles like this one: What to Do About Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

And here's another discussion specifically about July 2020 Weddings! OsQM71bUJ0Qu4ly8UKJOrw-4MNRCjpvLo-YljRdj

First things first, I recommend that you call or email your venue and see how they're handling July events. Things are changing daily, so keeping the lines of communication open is important. That way, you can make decisions in a timely fashion.

Stay positive and hang in there!! You've bought yourself a lot more time and hopefully more peace of mind!

I am July 25 in nor cal about 50-75 people. I am still trying to remain optimistic. Either way I want to get married on my date and go on my honeymoon July 31. Trying to remain positive about the likelihood of a wedding. It’s at a private home. Ahhh this is not good

I wanted to be optimistic too but honestly we’ve had to cancel our bachelor and bachelorette parties and my wedding shower. And my grandparents are too nervous to come understandably. I don’t want people so worried that they don’t want to celebrate with us. We decided to postpone to next July. It’s going to make our engagement a three year long one but honestly it’s necessary at this point. I don’t even have time to get my dress altered anyway. The silver lining is that it gives us more time to do what we want to do and save money.

I did the same, postponed our July wedding to August next year. It sucks but I live in Philadelphia and I don't think the stay at home order will be lifted anytime soon. Also did not even get to get my makeup trial, cake tasting or alter my dress. Our engagement is also going to be 3 years but I think it will be all that much special when we do get to get married and appreciate the day so much more!
