July 11th Wedding, Extension of Rona 🤦🏻‍♀️

Erin, on April 9, 2020 at 4:12 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
I am a very decisive person, but with the extension of the stay at home order I am at a loss. I’ve been a bridal consultant for 8 years and I never thought my wedding would be this difficult. I have venders asking if I want to reschedule my wedding because they have other people want my date. Note I am paid in full. I have two pregnant bridesmaids, due in October. Part of me feels like getting married next year in July so that we might have a chance at a special wedding again because this is supposed to be the happiest time in my life and I just don’t feel that way. Anyone have any insight or words of encouragement?

Are you having a large number or guests? If yes, wait for at least end of May to decide.

Mine will be a private Beach destination wedding, just us and our kids. So, “The Show Must Go On!” In good time or bad time 😜

I think a lot of the fun and excitement has gone away with living through a pandemic and I think that's totally expected and you should give yourself a break. I tell myself that when I get closer to my date and out of quarantine craziness I will get excited again. We postponed from this weekend to September. Your wedding day will be wonderful no matter when it is.

I think July 11th may work for you but it depends on your area and your guests. If I were you, I would stick with it and hope for the best!

July 11 date twins! We postponed until next year and I was crushed but found SO much more positives In postponing. I felt an overall sense of peace as well!

I would think postponing for a year might allow you to let it all go for a while and recuperate from disappointment and burnout.

    Hi Erin,

Would postponing your wedding to next July relieve some of your stress? Have you asked your vendors if they can accommodate any specific July 2021 date(s)?

Also, as you may have already seen, WeddingWire has created resources that may be helpful as you navigate the planning (and/or postponement) process: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide, including these articles:

I hope you're able to make a decision that feels right for you. Good luck! Smiley heart

We're July 31st- holding out hope, but holding onto invitations for a couple extra weeks. We've decided we won't change our date and we'll use the 10 person limit if we have to. Our date is important to me (my late father's birthday) so we'll party later if it comes to that.

I've spent the last couple of weeks worrying and fretting and crying, but ultimately, I don't feel like my wedding is about the party (which I was SO excited about, so I'm not saying it doesn't matter!), but it's about me and FH, so it'll be special no matter what- and so will yours! Smiley smile
