Just Said Yes July 2020

July 11, 2020

Planning a wedding on 7/11 and already have the dress, photographer, DJ, venue secured, but I’m hearing a lot of feedback from my family and friends that I might want to consider postponing to December. My fiancé and I are long distance and we are planning a move to VA. We picked July to marry because I have children and thought it would be better for them to make this transition over the summer months. Anyone else having this kind of “pressure” to postpone their wedding in this post covid19 world??? Are you delaying??? Advice is welcome. I’m so anxious and stressed! I’ve waited 36 years for this day and then a health pandemic was released upon the world

Hi Amanda! I'm sorry you're having to make these tough decisions. Across the board it sounds like July couples are understandably anxious, but keeping their original plans and watching and waiting for now. Proactively reviewing vendor contracts and thinking about what plan B could look like has also been helpful for personal peace of mind!

FYI - We've started gathering initial resources in our COVID-19 Wedding Support Central, and I've also seen a lot of July brides connecting in this discussion: July 2020 Weddings!

Try not to stress, I know it's easier said than done but we will get through this. We postponed from May to June so we're hopeful that this thing ends soon. We're all in this thing together; lets push through.

We are July 11th too (rescheduled from April 11th due to the virus). We opted to make our wedding a small ceremony with just family and spend a week as a family vacation. but have opened up the invite to anyone who wants to come to attend the ceremony. We just decided not to do a reception. I’m hearing from friends who are interested in coming still. We also live out of state so I think our friends were excited to do a vacation (ours is on Hilton Head). I wasn’t interested in postponing just to have a big reception so I’m happy with this compromise.
