Joint wedding reception/baby shower

Maya, on April 3, 2021 at 12:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
Hello,
After postponing my wedding 4 times due to the pandemic, I am now pregnant! We still have our venue, etc all set up. We were thinking of having a small wedding ceremony/dinner in the next 2 months. And then having a baby shower/full reception in the late summer. Any thoughts or experience with this kind of thing? My due date is Nov 1st.

Those are two different celebrations that deserve separate parties.

I wouldn't combine them. Both deserve their own time to shine.

I don't think you should combine them. First of all, you shouldn't be throwing your own baby shower. Secondly, the point of a wedding reception is to receive your guests and thank them for attending. The point of a shower is for the guests to shower you with presents. The focus of your wedding reception should be to thank your wedding guests and treat them well, not expect them to give you presents for your baby.

Idk why people have to be so negative on this site sometimes. If thats what you want to do, go for it! The pandemic had changed many things anything goes at this point, ad you know after postponing four times. I think you could plan it so it’s fun and a celebration of both life events

I agree with this! I can’t imagine the stress of having to postpone 4(!!) times, so you should do whatever makes you happiest. Anyone that would celebrate your wedding would celebrate your baby. Do whatever is best for you! And congratulations!
