January postponed wedding

Serina, on October 20, 2020 at 7:57 PM Posted in California Planning 0 5
Hello all you gorgeous brides. I am currently scheduled to get married January 2021, right around the corner. I am still unsure if I should postpone for a later date. Have any of you January 2021 brides postponed your wedding?

Hi Serina. I think it’ll depend on what your wedding plan is. If you’re hoping for a large wedding (100+ people and reception), realistically I don’t think that’s going to be allowed by January, especially now that Newsom’s made gathering restrictions tighter. If you’re planning a small, family only wedding (thinking 30 or under), you’re probably fine unless some major outbreaks happen.

I'm getting married Feb. 2021, and I think it's possible. Currently I'm looking for a new venue that will allow my 150 person wedding, and I talked to a lot of outside venues, saying that they were allowed to hold their events of 150 people, as long as the entire event was outside, and everyone took precautions, such as: encouraging guests to wear masks, and having hand sanitizing stations at every corner, which I'm doing.

I even talked to my decorator, and they confirmed that they've been holding a lot of large events, and taking all the necessary precautions.

Thank you for reply, If things get out of hand I am planning downsizing the guest list. It just so unsure of how things can turn out. It is hard to plan a wedding with not knowing what can happen.

Hi Serina! You're definitely not alone in those feelings right now! Dealing with this much uncertainty is really stressful. Smiley heart

I'd definitely keep a Plan B and Plan C in mind, and think through any extra steps you can take to stay within social distancing guidelines (tables spaced 6' apart, outdoors if possible, a 2-3 hour long reception instead of 4-5 hours) and what your downsized guest list would look like!

It depends on your wedding plans, but I would be going full steam ahead. A lot can change by then.
