I looked into them for our wedding, but some of the reviews I found on line made me rethink. I read that one of the ladies there is extremely rude and constantly messes things up with the weddings. I also read that you have to pay a security guard to be there the entire time and they were showing up early demanding full payment for there services and then leaving. I think the out of town price was like $450, but don't quote me on that & they only do tours of the site on Wednesday late afternoons. It did look to be a extremely beautiful site. I hope I didn't scare you off just giving you the info I found. Good luck

I will be having my wedding there this fall 2014. You'll want to call Tel: 913-596-7077. I was given a number to call to make an appointment to look at the venue, which they usually do on Wednesdays. The lady on the phone wasn't overly friendly, but she was no problem at all. The person who showed us around the place during our appointment was a manager or maintenence guy for that property and he was friendly and helpful. He provided me with a brochure, answered my questions, etc.

I also read some review that were unpleasant, so I was/am cautious about it, but so far things have gone fine. We are on a very limited budget, so we are willing to jump through a few hoops to get a nice venue for a good price.

Pricing: It is more expensive if you are not a resident of Wyandotte County, but still under $1000 if you get your deposit back.

We got a friend who is a resident to come with us when we went to reserve the venue, so we will be paying around $425 total, with $725.00 required up front -- $300.00 refundable deposit, +$425.00 reservation fee.

To reserve, they do a lottery for reservations. To do this, you must show up 1 year to the date you want to have your wedding/reception (if your date falls on a weekend this year, then you'll need to go the Friday preceeding your date). 8:00 a.m. at the parks & rec office. There, you will draw numbers from a hat. Fortunately, we were looking at having our wedding on a Sunday, and our number was pulled second (the first couple chose that Saturday).

Keep this in mind -- one of the couples that were not chosen the day of my lottery then asked about reserving a date the previous month and they were able to book them the weekend before us. With this in mind, you might be able to reserve this venue on a date that is still free outside of the 1 year mark.

Rules as stated on this site do include no fire (they do however offer an additional fee if you'd like them to light a fire in the provided fireplace on the premesis), NO glass of any kind, You must hire security (through them, per hour) if you plan to serve alcohol and if you do, it is a 4 hour minimum. You get the venue all day, but must be done by midnight (sounds like they like it sooner). We scheduled the ceremony/reception earlier for this reason. There are other rules, which are outlined in the brochure provided when we toured the facility. You can pick up one of these brochures at the main parks and rec office also.

So...yes, it's a little tricky regarding booking the venue and following the rules, but for my money, it's been worth it so far. We'll see the day of, but I'm flexible and optimistic. Good luck!!
