James bond wedding theme - help

James, on August 8, 2010 at 6:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

My fiancé insist in us having a James bond wedding theme, witch I loved at the beginning but now I don't know how to create it, except an Austin martin car, everyone in nice tuxedos and have martinis as a main drink what else can I do? I have no idea what color scheme to use, what centerpieces, in what color to dress my bridesmaid and not even how should my wedding dress to be? ? Anyone has any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you so much for any help!!!

Of course, black and white. What about red as an accent color?

Yeah- rent an Astin Martin to drive off in. Pricey, but not more than a limo...

When I think James Bond, I think of the revolver shape. Maybe set up the Best Man as his archnemesis...

Movie posters? Hmm... I'd have to think about that one.

I don't think you have to gear the actual ceremony to a Bond theme, just the reception maybe. Martinis and revolver centerpieces. I agree with Meghan -- some movie posters? Or better yet, you and your FH could have B&W pictures made performing several classic James Bond stances and scenes. I think it would be hilarious if you had a small, fake knife or girly gun attached to your garter. ^^

Do you both have a favorite James Bond movie? You could style your event based off of the specific movie as well...for example, Casino Royale (doing a Vegas-style glitz event), Goldfinger (using a lot of gold tones), etc.

Photo possibility? You could also have everyone have actually toy guns to hold. Perhaps you could give the guys shoulder holsters for their groomsmen gifts.

You could use the James bond movie names for table assignments instead of numbers.

Martini shaped vases (or varying sized glasses) for centerpieces with a floating candle instead of an olive

    Revolver shaped favors.

Black & white formal dress for guests

Those are great ideas, thank you so so so so so much!! The cakes are hilarious and very unique love them!! And I love the idea of black and white and a little bit of gold

I am ashamed to admit that except the last 2 bond movies I did not see any of them ? and I am not sure which movie is his favorite. I was planning to have next Saturday dedicated to watch them. I LOVE the necklace that Vespa ( I think that was her name) was wearing in the movie and I plan to wear that for the big day (a cheaper imitation of it ;-) . The part that scares me now about the theme is that I see Bond as very modern and I am not sure how to translate that into the room and the dresses that me and the bridesmaids are going to wear?

Thank you so much again for helping me with this

Find out which actor is your FH's favorite Bond - it will make a difference. I used to be a real Bond geek and still enjoy the movies so I can come up with a lot of ideas once you nail down which Bond and which movies are his favorite.

We used Louis Armstrong's song 'We Have All the Time in the World' from On Her Majesty's Secret Service for our first dance. No other Bond tie-ins though.

Well number one on your bookmarked pages should be Jamesbondwiki.com for all information James bond you could ever possibly need.

For yourself and the bridesmaids, we use that same website to turn for clothing inspiration. All the bond girls in their dresses http://www.jamesbondwiki.com/page/Bond Girl Evening Gowns

You'll notice it's a lot of slinky and glamour and sparkle.

For tables... you might want to look into getting these to sprinkle around a la the movie "Diamonds are Forever" http://www.diamondsandicedecor.com/

Thank you for sending me the links, love the idea of combining James bond with Diamonds, we both win Smiley smile)

If I have a very large martini glass something like in the link bellow with diamond candles ( 2nd link ) will that be classy enough to go with the bond theme?

Everything with James bond seems to be very classy and I want our centerpiece to go with the theme but be classy too.

And where can I find fake mini guns that woman have in Bond?

What about having your guests enjoy your theme as well, instead of the traditional tapping of the glasses, make it so your guests have to answer a james bond movie trivia question in order for you guys to kiss. have your mc ask the questions every 15 mins or so. or you could leave a few question on the tables and your guest have to come up with the answers if they answer correctly you kiss. also you could use black cock tail dresses for your girls for example ======>

OK this is a little out there...but for fun if you have a RB you could have him carry the rings on a whit fluffy stuffed cat....oh and you should put some silver in your colors.

I LOVE your Martini glass centrepiece! That's so James Bond lol... maybe toss some of the fake diamonds in the bottom of the Martini glass with a LED "ice cube" light? https://www.glowmania.com/s-10-gm-litecubes.aspx?gclid=CPCAkuu4s6MCFR9Pgwods3kukw

For the Bond Women mini-guns... nothing cheaper than a kid's toy. Pop into a party city or anywhere that sells cheap kids toys, especially right now towards the end of summer when they're trying to unload their summer stock. I bet you can find a ton of mini squirt guns on sale (or at least cheap). Spray paint them silver or black (but make sure to either make the handle a bright color or tell the security and staff at the venue that they are fakes)
