Ivory/mocha wedding dress

Caroline, on May 2, 2021 at 1:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi. I really like the mocha/ivory color (left) as opposed to the ivory color (right). I feel like it’s more flattering to my body type. The size of the mocha/ivory is more my size, and the ivory in a larger size. The ivory color looks more like a wedding dress in the picture. I’m also afraid I would look back in 10 years and the dress would be dated. Any thoughts?

Honestly, I think the one on the left looks good. If you like it more and you consider it "your wedding dress," I see no reason why you shouldn't choose it. I would choose whichever makes you feel more comfortable.

Far and away, the ivory. I prefer the look, and it is more bridal, and in 10 years you will look at the mocha and say, what was I thinking. You wont even want your kids Christening dresses made out of it ( if you would do that.)

Based on the pictures alone, I can’t tell a difference between them. It’s also very rare for a dress to not be available to order in other sizes. That may be what they have to buy off the rack but unless these are one of a kind dresses, you can order another color in a different size.

If you love the mocha then go for it. It’s plenty bridal because you are wearing it to get married and it looks beautiful on you. For what it’s worth, everything is dated so don’t stress.

Aw… that’s a sweet thing to say. These are only dresses to try on. I have to go to another store to try on the dresses in my size. I would probably do that since I’m so indecisive.

Keep looking if you’re unsure. There are many posts about brides who bought the first dress they tried on and wore a 3rd or 4th purchase on the wedding day. You will know it’s the one because you won’t want to take it off.

Browse Yelp in your area for other stores to check out.

I personally really like the mocha one! If you found a dress you love, then go for it! Wedding styles change so much over time that I wouldn’t bother factoring in if it would be outdated into your decision.

I personally love the mocha. It looks great with your complexion. I wouldn’t worry about looking back on it and regretting the style. I have pictures of myself wearing Jnco jeans as a young teen and although I look RIDICULOUS I still love the memories that came along with those jeans. If you can’t stop thinking about wearing the dress, it’s the dress. Styles/color preferences will always change. You can’t think too much about that. Wear what makes you feel beautiful, that’s what really matters.

I’m afraid anything you wear will look dated to a specific time or era…it’s inevitable and isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I would choose what you love! And not worry about it,

I don’t think the one on the right will look any more dated than the one on the left. All dresses will typically be dated over the course of time. I love the mocha one because it matches your skin tone so well and really just brings such a beautiful illusion type feel to the dress. The one on the right doesn’t wow me like the one on the left does. Just my honest opinion.

I think I agree - irrespective of which you pick it's going to look dated. The dress I chose is literally the most plain, classic dress and it's going to look dated. If not on it's own, then because of the hair, the makeup, the style of the flowers, the way the groom's suit fits, or what the bridesmaids are wearing. There's no way around this so I wouldn't let that influence my decision.

I'd go with the one I felt most flattered my body and that I just loved - if that's the mocha one then you should get that! I think it's very bridal and really pretty, although the white is equally pretty. I don't think you can go wrong.

It could just be the lighting, but the mocha underlay looks like it complements your skin tone a lot more than the straight ivory. Either way, that dress is gorgeous and you will look stunning!

I personally love the look of the mocha one as well! I wouldn’t stress about how you’ll feel about in your dress decades from now, as styles are always changing.

I love the mocha dress! It’s beautiful. Personally for me I find some NOT ALL lace gowns in white or ivory can look dated.

Mocha all the way. And if you ever have any insecurities, look at dresses from the 70's and 80s.

I often love the look of ivory lace or tulle over a slightly different underlay color because I think it helps the details of the dress pop and gives the dress more texture and dimension. I really like the mocha color!

Yes, its on trend now and yes it will likely look dated soon, but as another poster mentioned most if not all wedding looks look dated. The closest thing to a "timeless" look I can think of is Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's wedding look and that's only because all of it - the dress, the hair, the veil - was so simple (and it was also just 25 years ago, so maybe it will prove more dated than I think in another decade or two).

I think the mocha is more flattering on your skin and it makes the dress look a little more custom too. My vote is for mocha, but go with whatever makes you excited and feel the most beautiful!
