So I've been debating back and forth on whether or not I should go with ivory or white for my wedding dress. I know that I'm pretty pale and that white can often wash fair-skinned people out, but I have a few white shirts in my closet and I don't seem to have a problem with those. I tend to have neutral skin rather than a specifically warm or cool skin. I'd like to have an idea of what to look for before I have my dress.

I like Ivory more than white. The first time I went looking for a wedding dress the Ivory ones looked a lot more elegant and the white ones looked cheap to me. I'm not sure why that is but it may also depend on the fabric of the dress, some fabrics look better in Ivory than white and vice versa. The only way to really know is going and trying them on yourself Smiley smile

I'm pretty pale, and this is me in my ivory dress! The store where I bought my dress only carries a few dresses in true white, for reasons that others have stated above. I didn't even try on any white.

I agree you just need to try different colors on and see what works for you. I look horrid in yellow, but white makes me washed out. The right shade of ivory or champagne looks just right for me.

You'll definitely have to try on different shades in person!! I ended up in an ivory dress with gold accents!

FHs only request of me was a white dress. So he got it. Though to be honest I really couldnt see much difference between the two shades in my particular dress. I should mention that im part of the pale girl club as well.

You would be surprised how white ivory looks until you put white up next to it. When I got my dress in I thought they ordered me white until I put white up next to it and realized it's truly was ivory. I was so happy I went with ivory!

A lot of dressmakers no longer make truly ivory dresses. Ivory was once the yellowish shade that was easily distinguishable from white. Today, ivory is much closer to a very pale cream color, just a tiny bit more tan than white, closer to the white of natural fiber fabrics.

Try them on first. I picked something completely different than I was originally looking for!

You'll have to try them on to know for sure I just know for myself (and my Irish fair skin) ivory looked way better on me. I really wanted a blush dress but could not find one that fit my modesty requirements.
