It's happening....postponing Wedding

Sinaya, on July 17, 2020 at 2:15 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

Well I'm joining the long list of brides who have decided to reschedule their wedding for a later date. Even though our wedding is scheduled for August 2021, FH and I want to play it safe and push back the wedding another year. We live in CA and it's a hot mess out here let me tell you. Progress was initially made, but CA is now going completely backwards. So to avoid cutting our guest list more than we already have, we plan to wait another year. I'm slightly bummed, but honestly I think it's the best decision. A major plus is that we plan to stay on our current pay schedule with the venue and our vendors, which means the wedding will be paid off a whole year in advance. That leaves more room for other things we may want and a honeymoon. So I guess I'm now an August 2022 bride!

I’m sorry. 2022 will be here before you know it. Hopefully COVID lockdowns and mask will be in the past by your date.

Thank you. I hope things will be in a better place by then too.

Oh man, I'm sorry Sinaya. But at least now the decision will be behind you and you won't have the weight of it still hanging over your head! You've definitely bought yourself some peace of mind for a long time. Smiley heart

Paying off the whole wedding early is another plus!

I'm so sorry! I agree though that 2022 is a good bet. We're still going to get legally married this year, in either a small-ish ceremony (30-40 people), or an intimate ceremony (parents/siblings only). I want to plan a traditional reception, but I'm fast-forwarding right to 2022 for that -- definitely not planning anything for next year after this mess!

Yeah I feel like 2021 will not be that much better. At least not enough to have a wedding with 150 guests.

Unfortunately, I think I might be heading that direction as well. My FH and I planned our destination wedding in Jamaica for June 2021. With no certainty that me or my guess will be able to travel next year, and passports being out of commission right now its getting difficult to plan and make arrangements. Not to mention I want my 25-30 guess to feel safe, comfortable, and enjoy themselves while on their mini vacation. Our resort needs answers by December 2020 if we decide to postpone, so I have a little time to decide. Put we are leaning that way. 2022 will definitely be a popular year! 🤣

Yeah we had originally planned on waiting until January to make a final decision. But with things getting worse we decided to go ahead and move the date now. I don’t see 2021 being that much different than 2020. But hopefully 2022 will be.
