Italy or Ireland - Travel Agent Needed

HMLSKK, on November 30, 2016 at 7:41 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4

So we are about 6 months away from the wedding and we are no where close to having the honeymoon planned. We have narrowed down destinations - Italy or Ireland preferred, and Maine if we stay stateside. I like planned itineraries and trips and my FI is a bit more chill and spontaneous so we are working to find the middle ground.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had their honeymoons in these places and what your thoughts were about them? How long did you stay? What do you recommend? Also, did you hire a travel agent? I am pretty set on hiring one but haven't found any good ones bc I live in a small town in OK. I know I need to start planning this but travel planning stresses me out. I would take wedding planning over that any day!!

I've traveled overseas quite a bit, but I've never used a travel agent. I did my own research and did most purchasing and such online.

I've been to Italy a couple of times. Where are you thinking?

We are going to Ireland for our honeymoon in May and are planning it ourselves. We met with a travel agent but weren't sold on an itinerary so we are putting together our own package which is proving to be about the same cost and is allowing us more flexibility to upgrade when we want to. So far we have only booked our flights but are looking into hotels now.

Our honeymoon is going to be in Italy and we went to Ireland last year. I can't speak to Italy (yet) but I LOVED Ireland. The driving can be super super stressful though. I wouldn't necessarily describe Ireland as romantic, though. It can be a little depressing for some reason.

We LOVED LOVED LOVED Italy! I planned the trip myself through Trip Masters! It was so easy. We went to Naples, Florence, Rome, and Venice, then spent 2 days in Paris. They will help you plan everything from your flight, hotels, and trains between cities! You can't mess it up! Don't waste your time/money on a travel agent. We were in Italy for about 11 days. I wish we could have stayed longer just because we loved it, but we were able to see all that we wanted and have extra time to just explore. My FH loves history so we spent a lot of time doing tours of Ancient Rome. If you don't plan on spending 4 hours in the Colosseum like we did you could spend less time there. You can pick how long you'd like to stay in each city. Also, the prices are great! For our trip including flights from NY to Rome, trains to Naples, Florence, and Venice, plane from Venice to Paris, car service to and from airports, hotels, and plans from Paris back to NY, I spent just under $3500!!
