Is your dress a "surprise"?

So we all know that most brides keep their dress a surprise from the groom until the day of wedding, but what about everyone else? So far I have only shown pictures of my wedding dress to a select few people, mostly because my mom seemed to feel strongly it should remain a "surprise," even to family...

So far I have only shown pictures of my wedding dress to a select few people, mostly because my mom seemed to feel strongly it should remain a "surprise," even to family members like my aunts and grandparents.

I'm not sure if I care that much, but it did give me pause! So brides, weigh in - are you keeping photos of your dress to a select few, or showing it to anyone who asks?

Yup! I'm having trouble deciding on a hairstyle and I feel like people need to see the dress to give an educated opinion!

I’ve been showing just about anyone. My dress still needs to be altered and I have to still buy my petticoat for it. It’ll look so different the day of that I’m not very protective of the poor quality bridal salon photo.

I’ve shown pics to a few people, and I FaceTimed my MOH and mom when I purchased it (I shopped alone), but it’ll mostly be a surprise. It also looks sooo different in pictures than it does in person. It’ll look really different to my MOH and mom because the sample was unlined and mine is fully lined.
The only person who’s seen it in person is my FH’s cousin, because I stored it at her house for a little while.

I dont even save pictures of my dress to my phone! FH and I linked our Google Photos accounts a long time ago so whenever our photos are backed up, we can see them. When people have asked to see pictures, I sent them a link to the dress online.

I believe my best friend isnt going to keep hers a secret from her FH. Lol! She told me and we had a good laugh about it.

Half and half. Both moms, my bridal party, FH’s sister, my grandma have all seen it. I showed his British relatives while they were in town because they won’t be at the wedding. His mom showed her mom but she’s not allowed to show anyone else. I’m also not showing the veil/ hairstyle/ or alterations so it will look a bit different. I don’t want our dads to see nor extended family

I have decided it will be a surprise. Only my mom, stepmom, maid of honor and matron of honor were with me when I found my dress. I have shown maybe 4 other people and some of them wont be at the wedding Smiley smile I want everyone just as shocked as the groom and i think it makes for a good photo later.

I'm keeping it a surprise---my bridesmaids, mom, grandma, and brother have seen it. But no one else has. It's part of the fun, in my opinion!

When I was younger I was always excited to see the bride's dress... I never got to see it before the wedding ceremony so I think some of that excitement carried onward and might be part of the reason it's going to be a surprise at my wedding!

The only person who has seen me in it is the groom. He actually picked it out! But it’s been about 2 years since he’s seen me in it so maybe he won’t remember lol

I'm planning on only showing my grandmother because she is helping me sew it. Although I may show my bridal party and mom, we'll see. But 100% a surprise for fiancé, dad, and other guests.

Though I don’t have a huge opinion on who sees it and who doesn’t, I am going to politely ask my mom and MOHs to not show it to anyone that will be at the wedding without my permission. (They’re coming dress shopping with me next Friday!!)
My fiancé is very close with lots of my friends and they’d all seen my ring before he proposed, one friend even said “oh that’s old news” which hurt a little. I’m hoping to prevent that same feeling with the dress even though I know on the wedding day it will look completely different than the day I try it on.

I’m keeping it a surprise from my immediate family and future in laws. The only person I showed was my current SIL and a co-worker.

Yes. It will be a surprise to my groom. He does not want to know anything about it. He wants to get hit with all the feelings when he sees me coming down the aisle

Only people that have seen my dress came shopping with me or aren’t attending my wedding (looking at you WW community!). My SIL didn’t show anyone for her wedding and we were all in awe when we finally saw her. I want my guests to have the same feeling (fingers crossed)!
