Is your dress a "surprise"?

So we all know that most brides keep their dress a surprise from the groom until the day of wedding, but what about everyone else? So far I have only shown pictures of my wedding dress to a select few people, mostly because my mom seemed to feel strongly it should remain a "surprise," even to family...

So far I have only shown pictures of my wedding dress to a select few people, mostly because my mom seemed to feel strongly it should remain a "surprise," even to family members like my aunts and grandparents.

I'm not sure if I care that much, but it did give me pause! So brides, weigh in - are you keeping photos of your dress to a select few, or showing it to anyone who asks?

As per the old skool way of doing thing. Everything about you should be a surprise to everyone on that day. With the exception of your Mother and MOH... when you are wanting to show everyone that suggest you are Anxious... but its really up to you!

My mom & dad were with me when I got it, I sent pictures to my MOH & FMIL. That’s the only ones I’ve sent it to, my mom might have sent to my aunt though lol

To my knowledge...the only people who have seen my dress are my bridal party, both of our moms, my dad, and 1 or 2 friends who couldn't make it to the wedding and asked about it.

The moms may have shared the dress with somebody else (grandma...aunts....who knows)

Omg I’m so sorry! I would’ve been livid!!! I get how uncomfortable that can be too, because it’s your FMIL but REALLY?! One of the reasons I didn’t include his family in dress shopping, they’re bad at keeping surprises. FBIL accidentally showed me a picture of my ring before I got proposed too so your not alone! Haha 🤦🏻‍♀️

I completely agree with the dress looking so much better in person which is one of the main reasons I’ve kept it from anyone who wasn’t with me when I said yes. I wouldn’t want to get a lack luster reaction if I showed someone a pic even tho I know they’re not getting the full effect. It would still bother me but hey everyone’s different 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just bought mine yesterday from ASOS. I have only shown one person, my best friend since we were in diapers, and she's actually the only one who knows I bought one as of right now. I might show my mom and sister later on when the date gets closer, but no plans to even let people know I have a dress yet.

I chose to show obviously the people who went with me which were my mom my maid of honor, which is my sister, and my mother-in-law. I've also showed all of my bridesmaids and I have showed my one Grandma who we don't believe for health reasons will live to the wedding so I chose to show her but that is it!

At first I only cared about keeping it a surprise from my groom. However, once I showed a couple of family members who were visiting from out of town, I realized I never thought about if I should hide it from family. They did not react poorly or anything, but I realized I'd rather have it a surprise.

I have shown it to 5 people in total (4 friends and my mom) and from those people, only my will be actually attending the wedding. Only my mom has seen me wearing it though.

I am keeping my dress a surprise to everyone outside of my bridesmaids and mothers (Mother, Stepmother, and future Mother-in-law). If my bridal party wasn't so insistent on being involved and helping me pick out the dress I would probably make it a surprise for them too just because I feel like it makes it so much more exciting Smiley smile

Ugh, I’m so sorry that he showed you the ring beforehand!! I get it, lol. Yeah it was definitely upsetting for me because we really wanted my dress to be a surprise. I know it was an accident, but you’d think you’d be more careful with sending texts when your husband and son have the same name! Luckily as soon as my FH saw what it was he deleted it right away. My FMIL doesn’t know that I know though. She would never forgive herself if she knew I knew, so better to keep the peace I suppose 🙂

Surprise! Just my sisters know. It’s a fun secret that I can keep to myself since everyone wants to know everything else.

I have been shopping online. I have been showing my mom, my aunt, my maid of honor, and even my fiancé. I have been asking their opinions on the dresses and trying to find the perfect one. I feel as though it’s okay for him to help shop but as long as he doesn’t see you physically in it until the wedding day!

My parents were with me when I got it. I also showed my sister, sister-in-law, and two best friends. I want to keep it on lock down otherwise!!

Everyone has seen my dress. Fiancé included. Literally just an object of clothing. I don’t understand the big deal. I’m also refusing to walk down an isle though so I know I’m far from traditional.

My dress is a secret 🤫 Also, the picture does it no justice. Only my mom, step mom, sister and sister-in-law have seen it because they went to my dress appointment with me.
