Is wedding videography worth it?

Hi everyone!! We’re debating on whether or not we should have a videographer for our wedding. Part of us feels we’d watch it once and never again.... but it may be nice for the moments we miss throughout the night. Thoughts?!?

We hired videographers and absolutely love all of our videos! We had our first look, our letter readings, our entire ceremony, speeches, and dances filmed. We also had a drone and a highlight film. We have watched all of our videos several times in the (almost) year we have been married. Watching them still gives me butterflies! I 100% recommended hiring a videographer.

I would love to have one, I believe it’ll be great to look back on for anniversaries and to show our children some day.

Wedding videography is so worth it!! ❤️

We've watched and shared our wedding highlight video wayyyy more times than our pictures! 🎥
Neither of us particularly like taking photos (or find ourselves to be photogenic 😆), which is why we love how the videographer captured our laughs, smiles, sweet & silly moments! It really captures the feelings of the day!

    SO worth it!
I recommend doing plenty of research (of course like anything-especially when wedding related) before for sure hiring anyone.
I had an EXCELLENT experience with our videographer & they were very well priced. They’re called Bel Amour.

My daughter was thankful to have the video to relive all the moments of her day that went by so fast in real time. She then asked about my wedding 28 years ago and we watched the video together (converted DVD to disc) . It was so nostalgic and bittersweet to see my grandparents and other guests who are no longer with us.

We didn't have a videographer and don't regret it. We knew that it wasn't something we'd ever watch, or maybe watch once and it wasn't worth the $2k+ to us.

We decided not to do a videographer. Besides the cost, I had a very bad experience with one while I was a bridesmaid last year. The bride hired them and they were supposed to start like an hour before pictures. They showed up like an hour and a half early. Then he didn't get the hint to leave while the bride was going to start getting dressed. He was only supposed to be in the bridal suite after it was on and while her mom was buttoning it up. He stayed there for at least 20 minutes before the photographers took him with them. It was awkward as they filmed so much that she didn't want. We were just sitting around before he came in and it made most of the bridesmaids uncomfortable since we weren't really dressed either, just in yoga pants and tank tops.

If you do choose to get one make sure it is clear what they should and shouldn't be doing. while yes this guy probably was just a fluke, I just got turned off on the idea of being filmed during my big day. Pictures are enough for me.

We had a videographer for our wedding. After the wedding, we posted the video on YouTube and sent the link to everyone who attended. It was great because the videographer captured everything that wasn't able to make it to our wedding album. Even though our wedding album is 50 pages, we couldn't capture everything in it. My dad sang to me, my aunt read a poem, and we had a sparkler exit. All of those things couldn't make it to our album because we just had soo many photos lol. I haven't watched it recently, but it is great to look back on. Especially since our wedding was right before COVID happened. So its kinda like a way to peer back into time before COVID. Especially a time where all our family was happy.

It wasn’t a priority for us at all because (you’re right) it will hardly be watched. Our venue live-streams and videos the ceremony. So we’re going with that and nothing more.

A bunch a friends have told me it’s not worth it because we’d only watch it once! If you want it recorded have a family member use their phone and then download it to YouTube and set it as private!

Hi Katie! I know this is a few days delay but as an owner of a photography & videography company(so I'm biased), I think they are both imperative. Although some videos seem too elaborate or not genuine, I think that if you look for the right videographer, it could definitely be an asset to your day. Furthermore, when we have shot our films, we keep the concept of how this video will make you feel in the future. In my consultations, I'm always telling clients that one of our goals is that in the future, when there's the first argument, that you can always look back at those memories and remind yourself of why you got married. I've personally had clients reach out and talk to me about it and of how the video and pictures calmed everything and resparked their marriage. It's just my 2 cents but I would definitely recommend!
