Is wedding videography worth it?

Hi everyone!! We’re debating on whether or not we should have a videographer for our wedding. Part of us feels we’d watch it once and never again.... but it may be nice for the moments we miss throughout the night. Thoughts?!?

If you can afford one I say go for it.

We originally weren’t going to hire one, but so many couples told me they regret not hiring one. Plus the ones that did said it was their favorite thing. It will be nice to look back on in a few years.

I decided to go ahead and do it and I don’t think I’ll regret it. Pictures are cool but video will literally showcase our emotions in every moment and I’m sooo excited for it

We had the same discussion and ultimately decided to have one. We want moments captured not only through pictures but video as well. We’re looking forward to the montage too!

I had one and no regrets. I laughed and cried at some of the candid interviews with loved ones, and have video of loved ones who have since passed. Our company was nice enough to add the footage from our emergency hospital wedding at no charge and upright it on the screen . Its priceless to me.

We were in the same boat. Mainly we didn’t think it necessary because we’re having a smaller wedding. But if you have a cocktail hour, I’ve heard it’s usually around same time you and your wedding party take pictures so if anything missed the videographer would capture it for you. That’s what sold us! Hope you have a magical wedding!

This is why we are going to ask friends to bring Go pro cameras (id like to have 4-5 to cut our own raw footage and have some roving ones for the guests instead of hiring a professional one

We originally decided not to hire one, especially due to budget. But we have had to postpone our wedding due to covid, and are now thinking of hiring one. Since the majority of our guests can’t make it anymore, we thought at least sharing our wedding video (even a short one) would be a way we could still share our day with them. Originally we were having 500 guests, now less than 100. Hope your day is great!

We had one and I'm so glad we did!

As much as I do actually remember a lot of the day, so much of it is overwhelmed with emotion, so it can get a little fuzzy.

If budget is a problem, contact your local college, and see if they have any film students willing to try their hand for a small fee.

We got lucky - I had a coworker who is an up-and-coming filmmaker, so she *asked me* if she could be our videographer for $1000 (which is a fraction of the price in our area). She not only filmed most of the day, she got a highlight video to us by the Wednesday after, and then took an external hard drive from us, and gave us *every piece of raw footage she had*.

We had a videographer. I wish I could’ve asked him before to shoot in 2K, because his version of “high res” was HD. We got our wedding video in SD which shocked me, and our wedding footage was in HD. I ended up picking some parts of the HD footage to make my own version of a weekend video.

I think that having a videographer is a great idea! It gives you a chance to look back on your beautiful day especially on your wedding anniversary

I would hire one. Your kids may want to watch it when they are older or family members that couldn’t make it would like to watch it.
