Is Venmo a safe alternative to pay vendors?

Kimberly, on July 1, 2019 at 11:55 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 32

Just wondering if any of you have used Venmo as a way to pay any of your vendors? Any issues come up or was it a good experience?

With how technology is nowadays and how everyone likes the ease of things just wanted to know if any brides used Venmo to pay their hairdresser, photographer, bakery, etc.

I feel like its safe, because the transaction record can be traced. Simply providing proof that you paid.

I've used Venmo to put my deposits down for my makeup artist, hairstylist, and string duo. I took screenshots of all of the transactions and printed them out as my "receipt" that I then put in my wedding binder. Haven't had any issues so far, though I still prefer to pay with our credit card if given the option (gotta get those points!).

Yes- I use for both my private company and to pay out to vendors and friends. It is safe. It is essentially an online money transfer station. It does not share your account information and will document your payments for proof of payment. It's a bit of the modern trend for money exchange.

I get paid via Venmo from my professional ballet job; and I use it to pay people as well. It’s safe and genuine!

Security wise, Venmo is safe. Unlike PayPal and other similar services, Venmo does not protect you or the other person. If something was to happen, you couldn't dispute the transaction. It's actually against Venmo's terms and conditions to use it for business.

Thank you! I've used Venmo before for paying my hairdresser and family and friends but never vendors so I'm glad to hear it was a good experience so far for you!

I used it to pay for deposit for my HMUA! It worked with no issues, and very convenient.

We venmo’d our hair and makeup artist and DJ. Venmo caps you at a $3,000 limit though so we had to do PayPal for part of it.

PayPal actually owns Venmo, they're slowly changing their service agreement so be mindful of that.
I'd be fine using venmo to pay. So far I have only written checks.

They cap you at $3000 per transaction limit at a time or overall?

My photographer prefers to be paid this way. We paid him through Venmo for the deposit. I just wrote in thr description what it was for so it's basically the same as writing a check and writing in the memo line.

I use Venmo to pay rent monthly. It's safe and you have proof of the transaction.

I used venmo, paypal, money orders, secure payment through website, and cash app.

cash app is definetly my favorite. venmo is alright. paypal is a pain.
