Is two years too long for an engagement?

I was just wondering if 2 years is a long time or will it go fast for us? We’re both almost 30 so we really wanted to get married ASAP. And how soon should we send out save the dates for a wedding 2 years away?

It's personal choice. My best friend was engaged for a week. I will be engaged for a year and a half before getting married. Whatever works out for the both of you.

I don't think two years is 'too short' or 'too long' for an engagement. We're getting married October 2020 and got engaged May 2019.
Its up to you both when you want to get married! If you want it to be next year then I would say find a different date or different venue. Several places we looked at either had some weekend in October or if it didn't then we went to the next option.

We have some legal problems regarding previous marriages which is part of our reason. Another part is our health. And the last part is being financially prepared for the investment of a Wedding as you all know they can be fairly expensive!

Is two years too long for an engagement? 1Shannon Just Said Yeson October 28, 2019 at 2:12 PMI choose this time because it gives us time to prepare to migrate our lives together. Financial..emotional..we both have children so we have to consider things that need to be in place prior to joining together

    Hi Christine!
Two years I don't believe is long at all! My fiancé and I became engaged in July of this year and our wedding is October 2021! October is such a popular month, and venues book quick! We found a beautiful place in Maine (and even they had 2020's dates out)!

two years allows you both to have fun with the wedding and not stress and rush! Once you have the date and venue it becomes even easier! Personally for us, I am in Nurse Practitioner School and with school and saving money, it made sense for us to do 2021! But now looking at it, I don't think I could do everything in just a year! I mean, your supposed to send save the dates out at a year ?! Soo that would be so fast!

I know it's doable for some, but being a wild planner it's soo helpful! ( : our save the dates are going out October, 2020! - Stephanie

I personally could not wait two years. If you can, good for you. It’ll give you time to research and save money, that’s for sure. You got engaged too late to get the 10/10/20 date. Those kinds of dates book fast. I had a specific date in mind as well and we couldn’t have it because we didn’t got engaged late so we ended up having a civil wedding first on that date and now we are doing a wedding party on a different date a few days after our special date.

My engagement will be 2.5 years by the time we get married. The time flies by! If you have a date and a venue and a firm guest list, I would send out your save the dates to give your guests more than enough notice.

Nope!! I got engaged September 1st 2019 and all the venues were booked for next year so we’re getting married September 25, 2021. I’m not going to send out save the dates until this time next year!

My FH and I got engaged in 2017. Our wedding is in 2021. (To save money and grow stronger together and get on our feet better.) We just sent out all the save the dates in 2019. We are early birds lol. I don't see a problem with early planning! CONGRATULATIONS

My engagement to FH will be a total of just over 17 months. FH will be almost 30 when we get married and I will be a few weeks shy of turning 27.

It gives you a lot more time to plan (and save money to pay for the wedding, if needed), which really reduces stress!

Save the dates should be sent out 6-8 months prior to the wedding or a little more in advance if it is a destination wedding.

By the time we get married, we will have been engaged for 21 months. We're paying for it ourselves, we both have to relocate family members (his son still lives with him, my mom lives with me), and we got engaged after only 4 months of dating. So we need that time. It's been flying, though! I wanted to be done with the planning by the end of this year, and there's still a lot to do.

Congratulations! 2 years is not to long at all because you now are able to take your time and plan and not rush things and depending when you want to get married some people must wait that long due to the venue is booked. You will be fine and with all the planning the big day will be here before you know it.
